And Then There Were Three...

Man, it never rains but it pours, eh? After reading my post about finding a source of VEPR mags (including how tight-lipped I was being about the source), friend and NE Blogshoot attendee mopar shot me an e-mail and asked about my source. Specifically if it was [company name redacted until I put in another order for mags]. Which it wasn't - and company X's mags were cheaper than company Y's, to boot!

So now I have three VEPR mags, two 10-rounders and one 5-rounder:

Three! Three beautiful mags! Ah! Ha! Ha!

The new magazine is definitely less "polished", but has three things going for it: 1. It's steel rather than plastic - certainly more robust; 2. It's made in the USA; and 3. It's nearly $20 cheaper (including free shipping!). Once I verify that it works, I will most likely be buying a handful more. And Wally has indicated a willingness to experiment with pre-ban M14 or AR-10 magazines to see if we can't jury-rig a few 20 rounders...

This may very well be the hardest damn way to get a heavy battle rifle, but I'm working on it...

That is all.

It sure is a hard way to get a "heavy damn battle rifle".

Ya know, Jay, that you can get an M1 Garand for about $522 shipped to your door from the CMP, right? How, you ask?

Easy - be a member of a CMP affiliated organization and show proof of marksmanship activity. GOAL is a CMP organization, IIRC, and if you go to an Appleseed Shoot (which I seem to remember inviting you to...), you get a nice little slip of paper as - you got it - proof of marksmanship activity.

How easy is that?
