First off, readers Max and greg both sent in this one from Washington State:
Tacoma homeowner opens fire on burglars; 1 dead, 1 wounded
TACOMA, Wash. -- Tacoma police are calling a fatal shooting self defense after a homeowner shot two burglars who were trying to break into his home, killing one burglar and wounding the other.Multiple aggressors at a time when it's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone might be up and about. That's rather scary. The homeowner in question had been the victim of previous burglaries, so when he heard the noise he armed himself and went to investigate. Upon meeting the goblins, even though he was armed they charged him - and got a face full of hot lead for their troubles.
The incident happened around 4:40 a.m. Monday at a home in the 400 block of South 38th Street.
Which is as it should be.

And Steve in TN sends in another story from his home state of Tennessee:
Police interview man who shot, killed alleged home invader
Again, we see multiple invaders, although in this case it was in the middle of the afternoon. Perhaps these two choirboys didn't expect to run into the homeowner - but then again, why did they have a tire iron? In any case, they illustrate the first rule of goblinhood:The front door of Edward L. Williams’ home at 1703 26th Ave. N. hung open mid-Monday afternoon while the dead body of an unidentified man was inside and surgeons at a nearby hospital worked to save another man’s life.
Police responded to a “shots fired” call at Williams’ home just after 2 p.m. Monday. Later at the scene, Williams, 42, told police the two men entered his home, hit him with a tire iron and were possibly attempting to rob him when he then armed himself with a handgun and shot at the alleged intruders.
Never bring a tire iron to a gunfight...
Dead Goblin Count: 161
That is all.

This will probably get me Branded as a Heretic, but the increasing numbers of Multiple Goblins in these Home Invasion stories has caused me to retire my Revolvers in favor of Hi-Cap Semi-Autos. Though I love my wheelies, the Ammo-to-Weight factor just doesn't make them as Efficient for the Modern Era. Five shots in a 20 oz.(empty) 640 J-Frame vs. 16 shots in a 21 oz.(empty) Glock 19, well, you do the math.
