Richard reviews the Taurus Tracker in .44 Magnum over at Guns, Holsters, and Gear.
I'll admit to a soft spot in my heart (or maybe my head) for the .44 Magnum round. Sure, a good portion of it has to do with "Dirty Harry" and that lovely 6" Smith & Wesson model 29 he carried (and I got to fondle at last year's NRA convention!). I owned a Taurus .44 Special for many years, picking it up dirt cheap as a new gun shortly after getting my MA LTC - and promptly realizing how expensive .44 Special is... The price of ammunition for a .44 Magnum is the limiting factor IMHO - $27.50 for 50 rounds (which is an insanely good price compared to what I've seen locally) - .45 ACP is nearly half as expensive and more useful as it's a round I carry.
Now, give me a kick in the ass about how I should load my own and then go read the review...
That is all.

Just a for instance: A box of .38 SPL from the Local COMGS, $28.00 50rds. Load my owns, $8.16 50 rds.
Granted, I know he's overcharging somewhat. OTOH, he's also paying medical bills from his recovery from cancer. He owns his own business, therefore, there isn't a "corparate" insurance plan. I support small businessmen. Go to http://www.handloads.com/calc/loadingCosts.asp to see how much you can save by recycling your brass.
I picked up a 629 for BAG day.
The first box of WWB cost 70 cents per round. My reloads with 240 gr HDY XTP's cost around 30 cents/round.
Hornady XTP .23
Primer .035
Powder .045
OK .31 each.
And I'll take Danno's cost and cut it almost in half, since I'm using Missouri Bullet 240gr hardcast SWC (Elmer Keith style) for 9.77 cents each.
I happen to have dies for .44 Mag/special that I don't use. If you want to put on your big boy pants and learn how to load we'll talk.
You kidding? I'm not even allowed to *own* big boy pants... ;)
(Seriously, I will definitely take you up on that offer when I'm ready to start...)
Just loaded up a box of .44 so I can update my exact cost per round.
bullet 9.77 cents
Powder 2.3 cents
Primer 3.5 cents
So under 16 cents a round, or $8/box
