Guess who legally no longer needs a car seat*?
BabyGirl G. turns 8 today. Daddy's little girl, seen above on the day we brought her home from the hospital, is now exactly halfway to her "sweet sixteen" birthday party. Be afraid. Be very afraid...
Happy birthday to my little princess!!!
That is all.
*In Massachusetts, all children under the age of 8 (or a height of 4'9") must by law use a booster seat. Yeah, it's retahded...

Congrats Jay and Happy Birthday to your daughter :)
Happy Birthday BabyGirl G :)
Yer we've got a similar silly law ... can't remember the specifices as I never bothered with it. (oops)
Michigan has the same dumbass law. Probably stolen for Mass most likely.
Happy birthday to your daughter though!
Ok make the from not for.
Jay,
For the last two years my own progeny has been bucking to ride "shotgun". Our pediatrician recommends a minimum of 5 feet tall before that can happen. Only six inches to go . . . ugh.
Happy B-day to BabyGirl G.!!!! Hopefully her b-day isn't too sullened by your recent loss.

Congratulations, monsignor! You are a very lucky dad...and she's a very lucky daughter.
Little Man gets the booster seat in mommy's car, but still has the car seat in dad's F250 due to belting & space issues. He doesn't mind and likes the view.
Happy Birthday BabyGirl G.
Jay - I assume you're starting to collect weaponry, ammo and plastic sheeting to deal with her 'beaus' in the coming years?
Happy Birthday, BabyGirl G.! You share a birthday with MY oldest daughter...two wonderful young ladies born under a lucky star. :)
Thanks everyone!!! I'm simply amazed at how fast the time has gone by - it really seems like only yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.
8 years old. Halfway to sweet sixteen.
I need more chainsaws...
And more acreage and shovels, besides :) Happy birthday to your little girl!

I'm always embarrassed to point out where TX and MA have anything in common. Here, it's 8-y.o. and 100 lbs. Because a 105lb. 7-y.o. isn't as safe as a 65lb. 8-y.o.
Oh, and Jumblerant?

Have you ever actually read this blog?
;)
Happy Berfday to your little girl, Jay!

The only dumb part of the law is the part that specifies weight. Car seatbelts are made for adults, not kids. Until they're a certain height, it's dangerous to wear a seatbelt without an adaptive device.
You can make the case, though, that the law is pointless 'cause those of us who care don't need it & those who don't care will ignore it. (Sounds familiar, eh?) Even before the law here was changed, my kids stayed in their boosters because they didn't fit the seatbelts yet. (Bobbie, poor thing, is going to go right back into a booster once we get a bigger vehicle. She's just short.)
Happy birthday to BabyGirl G.
Happy birthday. So which comes first her first date or her first shotgun?
