Bullying Is A Federal Case?

Feds investigate Minn. school district after civil rights complaint

(CNN) -- Federal authorities are investigating "incidents involving harassment and bullying" in Minnesota's largest school district, the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed in an email to CNN.

The civil rights investigation is currently underway in the suburban Minneapolis school district, Anoka-Hennepin, a community already embattled in a culture war over homosexuality in the classroom.

The "war" is over the fact that the school district has opted to remain "neutral" on gender and sexuality issues. The "war" stems from the school declining to put a policy into place for sexual orientation issues and allegations of bullying stemming from such issues. And now the Justice Department is expending resources to investigate bullying in MN over sexual orientation issues.

Is this really an effective use of our Federal employee time, money, and effort? Have we no other pressing matters that we need to inject the Feds into a local school district over their handling of a policy matter? Bullying sucks, there's no doubt about that; it must be even harder when it's over something completely outside of your control - this does not, however, excuse the FedGov from marching in over a difference in policy opinion.

Do we really need to go down that particular rabbit hole?

That is all.

The whole thing is an outrage. Bullying and harassment is bullying and harassment irrespective of whether its from race, gender, sexuality, or just being a nerd.

This is just like the laws about texting while driving. Its not texting, its the distraction.

In this case its not that someone is being picked on for being a gay, Muslim, Canadian, Star Trek fan. Its because they're being picked on.

I could rant on having been on the bottom of the social pile through school, but I'll spare you. Everyone here knows the score about being nice to others, raising your own damn kids right, and expecting adults to be responsible and not hide behind the State.

I thought the choice of rabbit hole was the problem to begin with . . .

There have been other Bullying Cases where the Feds have stepped in. Funny thing, though, is when they DECLINE to step in, because the Kid who was Bullied was not this Administrations "Politically Correct Minority".

Enough of talking around the issue. The Gay Community continues its Push for their "Civil Rights", and this Admin continues to support them. But if you are a member of the Gunnie Community, and you want the Right that is ALREADY written into the U.S. Constitution, this Admin will Fight you Tooth and Nail to prevent you from exercising it. So Your Federal Tax Dollars will continue to be spent on this stuff until either Congress Grows some Balls and starts shutting down Obama's Cronies, or some Republitard wins the next Presidential Election. But looking at the current way this House is dealing with Barry, we have until 20 January, 2013 at the EARLIEST to get out of this nightmare, AND then it depends on which Repub wins, AND if the Congressional Election can break the Dems in the Senate, AND the Republitards in the House can stay in the Majority, but under better Leadership than "CryBaby Boehner."

But I ain't betting my life on it.

Again ... it's not Justice if it's not "SOCIAL" Justice

Jay,

"Is this really an effective use of our Federal employee time, money, and effort?"

Would you rather have them working on a new Project Gunwalker?

Anyway, seven student suicides in two years indicates to me that there really is something badly wrong at that school. I don't think the feds should be involved, I think it's probably a waste of their resources just as you do ... but OTOH, if the school administration and local/state cops refuse to do anything about it, then it is a civil rights issue. Fourteenth Amendment: no citizen shall be denied the equal protection of the law.
