New Mexico town dissolves police dept after gun smuggling scandal
The scandal-plagued, tiny New Mexico border town of Columbus is dissolving its police department and asking the county sheriff to protect its citizens. An employee at Columbus City Hall confirmed to The Lookout that the police force has been dissolved. The Luna County Sheriff's Office will now take over patrolling the town.Silly police chief. Didn't he realize that the Federal Government hates competition? I mean, what would happen if the guns he was supplying to drug cartels wound up killing American citizens? You know, like Border Patrol agents. The town has been upended since federal authorities arrested Police Chief Angelo Vega, Mayor Eddie Espinoza, Village Trustee Blas Gutierrez and nine other residents for conspiring to smuggle hundreds of guns to drug cartels over the border in March. All of the accused have pleaded not guilty, and their trial is expected in October, according to the Las Cruces Sun News. (You can read the indictment here.)
I'm sorry, it's hard to take the Justice Department seriously here. They're actually going to prosecute a small town police chief for doing exactly what the ATF was doing as part of their "job". If that's not the be-all end-all in hubris and chutzpah I don't know what is. I mean, there's "do as I say but not as I do" and all that, but as government policy?
Sometimes the hypocrisy is just too much, y'know?
That is all.

I really want to say something rage-y and yet witty here, but the words escape me. The USDOJ picked up some local .gov officials for doing what the USDOJ deliberately did.
I... I just...
I've got nothing.

Funny thing. Wasn't it Pancho Villa's attack on Columbus, New Mexico to get Guns and Money that led to The Punitive Expedition? You know, that little thing prior to WW1 where the President sent 25% of the Army off into the desert to fight Terrorists?
What's that you say? Woodrow Wilson, the Great "Progressive" Democratic President was the one to order the troops in? Well, if a DemaCommie orders major military action, then it's cool, huh?
Yeah, that was one of our earlier kinetic military operations.
