Recession? What Recession?

The Big Guy sends in this little bit of infuriating BS from, you guessed it, right here in Hackachusetts:

Clothing For State Workers Costs Taxpayers $44M
As the commonwealth of Massachusetts digs itself out of a recession, Team 5 Investigates has learned there are thousands of state workers who are going to look good doing it.

An analysis of state records show in the last four years Massachusetts has spent $43,968,295.99 on clothing. The majority of those purchases are tied to longstanding union contracts, while many others are not. In this fiscal crisis, each agency is able to spend what it wants and Team 5 found there is no statewide system of oversight.
Got that? $11 million large a year over the past four years. While folks were getting laid off left and right, the state of Massachusetts was dropping 8 figures on clothing allowances for union hacks. With no oversight. Yeah, that sounds about right for MA.

Now, granted, some of the expenditures are for prisons and the State Police, folks you would expect to have at least some of their uniforms covered by the state. Others, like the Lottery (are you SHITTING me???) and the Department of Veterans Affairs, are not as necessary - it's certainly an area the state could have looked to for painless budget cuts, for certain.

Then again, it wouldn't be Massivehackachusetts if those feeding at the trough didn't bring home their perks, would it?

That is all.

Meanwhile, the Labor Dept announced today that the Unemployment Rate ROSE to 9.2%. So even cheap High School and Collage Summer Jobs are gone, and more Regular Folks hit the Unemployment Lines.

Yet, strangely, no Politician on any level (unless caught in a Sex Scandal) is looking for work. Maybe if they had to draw their Paychecks based on Merit....
