Cops: NRA guy’s a pizza work
A purported firearms instructor for the National Rifle Association pulled a handgun on a pizza deliveryman and ordered him to, “Stay out of my neighborhood” after objecting to the frightened pie guy’s driving style, Boston police said. The 30-year-old driver for DeNo’s Pizza and Subs quit his job after Friday night’s alleged scrape, an employee of the restaurant told the Herald yesterday.
There's a lot of what-ifs and conjecture in the article and in the comments therein. The only person who claims to have had a gun pointed at him was the delivery person; there are no claims of witnesses who back up the story. Given that the yutz in question was:
a) An alleged NRA instructor; and
b) Not properly securing his firearms in accordance with MA state law; and
c) lying to the cops about the status of his firearms,
I'm willing to give the pizza guy some leeway. Right now he's the more believable of the two. Now, is it possible that when our NRA instructor dude "talked" to the pizza guy his cover garment moved and exposed his concealed firearm? Possibly. Given that the guy had an AR, a Lorcin and a Luger (again, assuming the media got the story right) none sound like CCW pieces, but who's to say?
In any case, it drives home several points:
1. No matter how stupid and asinine the laws in your home town/county/state may be, you break them at your own peril. This guy is going to lose his MA LTC and be charged with a felony - even if the story with the pizza delivery guy turns out to be hot air. He will then be unable to own firearms at all, no matter where he lives.
2. When you are carrying, you are an ambassador for armed America. If you have a problem with the way someone is doing something, it behooves you to act in the most calm, most rational way possible. In this instance, call the pizza place and file a complaint. Be specific, avoid interjecting your feelings, stick to the facts, and above all be polite. If the guy's really being a menace, get pictures or video and call the cops - this is exactly the kind of thing they're paid to handle.
3. "Respect mah authoritay" only works when you have the power of the (police) state behind you. Private citizens get in a world of s**t when they try to muscle in on the monopoly of state-sponsored bullying.
Again, please, for the love of John Moses Browning, don't be "that guy"...
That is all.

So I can't point my Garand at the local teens and tell them to "Stay Off My Yard?"
*You* could probably get away with it, Les... :)
Pretty sure that Heller and McDonald would make a challenge to "safe storage" laws a quick case...
He also has exposure to the little-known Boston "assault weapons ban" with the AR. It'll be interesting to see if that comes into play.
Hopefully it will, chris.
I always thought that the case held just before the McDonald Ruling made a mention about statewide incorporation.
I would love to have that stupid law shitcanned.
Oh, don't get me wrong. The "safe storage" law is bullshit - but it's still the law. And as an NRA instructor he can't exactly claim he didn't know...
Should it be overturned? Hell yes. Is is unconstitutional? Hell yes.
Do we break it at our own peril? Hell yes.
Rule #3 should be bannered at the top of your blog, dude. :)
Also, Do we break it at our own peril? Hell yes.
Hell yes.
