Two Days, Two Additions!

Both Bob and Sean sent in this story. It's just perfect.

One suspect killed, second wounded during robbery attempt

One man was killed and another wounded Monday night after police say the men tried to rob a home poker game in North Raleigh.

Brandon Dwain Shelton, 28, was killed, and Brian Matthew Onley, 23, was wounded in his right arm. Both were shot during a struggle at a home at 4809 Sweetbriar Drive.

Bob wasn't sure if it counted because there was an illegal poker game going on. I'm saying yes for two reasons: 1. It's a freakin' poker game - there could very easily have been a poker game just between friends, although it's likely that the goblins chose the house because of the game; and 2. Gambling's a victimless crime. There is simply no reason for a poker game for money being illegal.

Not to mention that there's a certain delicious irony in goblins having their guns taken away and used against them...

Dead Goblin Count: 181

That is all.

As long as the house isn't colluding with some players and cheating others.

I don't see the count total. How can I manage my count total if there's no count total!

I DEMAND YOU ASSUAGE MY OCD!

Robert,

Ah, but if gambling were legal, one could leave a cheating establishment for the one next door. Rather than being in the murky background, the games would be all kinds of reviewed and such shenanigans would not be tolerated.

Viva la market libre!

Robb,

Something funky happened with Blogger earlier today. I checked this morning on my iPhone and half the post was missing; it appears now to be all set.

The magic number is 181, FYI.

Oh, indeed. I agree that it should be legal.

Victimless? Not so sure...

Tell that to the 3 year old twins down the street who's daddy spent his paycheck on lotto tickets and now there is nothing to eat in the house.

Not eligible for welfare because daddy makes too much money....

Fortunately, the neighbors figured things out, and are feeding the kids, (no one much cares about dad, but he doesn't seem to have lost any weight).

But it ain't victimless in this case.

And yes, the neighbors had a little talk with dad....

He's promised to pay them back, and to not spend money he shouldn't, we'll see.....

I've said it before, and I'll say it here: In the overwhelming majority, if not every single one, of the stories I've seen about people having their guns taken from them and shot with said guns, the people taking the guns have been the good guys.

So, yes, the kids were the victims of their father's actions but it's not the gambling that should be a crime. If he had spent his paycheck on a car instead of gambling, would you make buying a car illegal?
