Most important tip:
Remember, this storm has already been to the Caribbean, where the zombie menace originated. Watch your spouse and children for evidence of zombie infection carried by the wind, and respond as necessary.
And like T-bolt says, don't use a shotgun for zombies!
I just realized there is one criticial component missing from my hurricane preparedness plans: Bourbon.
That is all.

Good thing I have plenty of batteries. You can find a D cell for love or money in a 100 mile radius.
Bubblehead Les set me up with Bourbon at the convention.
Yeah, being a little juiced up in a crisis worked for McArthur and Roosevelt. Kennedy got vitamin and amphetamine shots, and I have it on good authority that Teddy Roosevelt started each day with a bloody mary made from 1000 year old vodka and the blood of a wolverine.
Dammit! I should have restocked the Bourbon when I was in N.H. Zercool kept reminding me, too. Oh, well, guess you'll have to listen to REO's "Riding the Storm Out" while drinking Scotch.
Hmmm. "Disaster Music List?" Free Ice Cream for you, Jay. Run with it.
ooh! You're a good man, Les!
They just declared a town state of emergency. Voluntary evacuations; for now. State already declared one, and saids expect the major highways to be shut down saturday night. The sun is out and the Irene still has at least 24-36hrs to change her mind (and you KNOW how many times a female can change her mind in 36hrs!). Screw this, we're having a huge bbq party tommorow, and I ain't canceling, and I sure as hell am NOT evacuating! /me flips Irene the bird
Stupid Exxon Valdez. I have to ride this out on the water cold sober.
On the upside, I finally bought a Larry Correia book, so maybe I'll start getting some of the inside humor here.
Paul: Which one? I just finished all three Monster Hunter books in the past 10 days. Some of the posts and comments here do make more sense now.
Scotch dammit... Oh never mind, keep going on the bourbon, that means more scotch for me :-) Y'all stay safe up there!

Heh! You best head over this way...
I stopped at the liquor store on the way home from the dojo last night. Wasn't like I was out, but I bought a fifth. It's going to be a long day here in NC and the power might go at any time.
Dave H. First one. Can't tell you the title, it's in my bunk and I'm on watch...
Geez, when did they start naming Noreasters ?
Paul: Monster Hunter International. Strap in, that book is a wild ride.
Power came back on about a half hour ago. Spent last evening reading a book by kerosene lamp and drinking some of the aforementioned bourbon.
