So, I'm sitting in my truck in the parking lot behind the building where my kids have CCD. I'm drinking my cold coffee and reading through blogs on my iPhone (I do so love technology...), enjoying the half-hour of quiet while the kids are in Sunday School. Across from my is a yuppie dad in his status symbol Prius, glaring at me in my big ol' Dodge Earthf**ker.
So I started the Dodge up to run the heater...
That is all...

And I hope you rolled the window down half-way when it started getting too warm in there.....
Just run the A/C to cool it back down. Hope ya revved to motor a few times just to make the hemi growl a little too.
You'd da man!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just get a Bumper Sticker made up that says "I Bought My Carbon Credits, Have YOU?" and watch them start to sweat.
Love it Jay :-)
I do the same effing thing in my old Chevy. Smug twat in a Prius? I've been know to stop next to them and just smoke my tires with three-hun'erd-fiddy cubic inches of unmuffled V-8 glory.
Those are the days that life is good. Very good.
I idled my truck in the crown of Hippiedom in Moscow, (Which I swear is a hippie capital) so many nasty looks.
If they come within conversation range and say something the following occurs. Then I look at them and say I idle it because of your stupid emissions regs. You make me burn fuel for no power gain anyway, so why stop the engine for 3 minutes. You want to know who's killing the environment, you are, with your inability to do math. That's why you bought the Prius.
Once again, a story that warms my heart. In addition to the truck...
Coal. Your pretty, green, eco-friendly Prius burns coal. Sure, the energy from that coal is converted to steam, which turns a turbine to make electricity, which sent down a copper wire to your house so you can charge that battery, but so what? Somewhere a steady stream of carbon with your name on it is flowing into the atmosphere.
You really really need an "EARTH FIRST, LOG THE OTHERS LATER" bumper sticker.
UMMMMM....Guys, Priuses (Prii?)don't plug into anything.
Their batteries are recharged by a small gasoline engine. They're a hybrid, not an electric car.
If you are going to criticize, please don't resort to the liberal method, and do it without knowing any of the facts!
And hybrids make great economic sense, IF you by them used!!
The one major problem I have with the Prius - the batteries.
There's the lead and the acid. Neither are great for the environment. The manufacturing process is toxic. The disassembling process is toxic.
I'd love to see hard data on the environment impact of a Prius versus Jay G's truck from birth to death.
My money says Jay G's truck is more earth friendly than the Prius.
This has inspired me to post pictures of my '72 Cutlass (for sale, btb) and her plant, which runs on dead dinosaurs and safe, renewable whale oil.
I once got a IT support case from the European Carbon Credit Exchange (or some idiot name like that). So I had to get on the line and exchange pleasantries with the fellows at the other end and try to fix their problem because, hey, they paid for the support contract. Of course I fixed it.
I felt pretty dirty afterwards, like I had been complicit in the scam. I didn't mention that I had a degree in atmospheric science and I've got a pretty strong scientific basis to critique their entire deal.
All in all, they came in above supporting st0rmfr0nt dot com (misspelled to avoid searches) but below add6inches.com. Even jigglyjuggs.com (I am not doing a DNS search to find out if that's real) has a respectability that the AGW crowd does not.
Well, aren't I the stupid? As anonymous pointed out, Priuses (Prii?) recharge from a gasoline motor. I knew that, and forgot. So I take it back.
You MUST do your research more thoroughly!
"There's the lead and the acid. Neither are great for the environment. The manufacturing process is toxic. The disassembling process is toxic."
The Prius batteries are not lead/acid, but instead NiMH, just like the rechargeables most people use for flashlights, etc.
C'mon!!
No, I don't drive a Prius! I drive a GMC Yukon from 2000, though. I also drive a Camry Hybrid that I bought used for the same price as a regular Camry, and which gets 37 MPG regularly. My wife and I also drive a smoking hot Inifinti G35S.
And what's wrong with lead/acid? 99.9% of the cars in America have lead/acid batteries!
Actually, NiMH is actually worse for the environment than lead-acid batteries, assuming that both are recycled properly. Nickel mining is not exactly the best thing for the environment...
Interesting tidbit: Over the expected life of the two vehicles, from ground to scrapyard, a second-gen Prius will do more damage to the environment than a H3 Hummer. (Don't have a source handy, alas.)
Also, Anon, there are some modified Prii that do plug into the grid. (But not most.)
@Garrett, you could probably stick a chunk of coal in the arse of the converted prii owners and have a diamond in 1/2 an hour.
I have to post the pics of the Leaf exhibit at the airshow today. They had a row of them for demo drives. All plugged into a portable diesel generator.
SOOOOO much win!!
Did you remind that fucktard of just how nasty those batteries in his shitmobile are to make and dispose of at the end of their lifespans?
I love it when my little diesel car gets stares from Toyota Pious owners.
55mpg and no batteries, bitch.
Didja run by him and tromp the accel. to give him a shot of diesel smoke for good measure. :P
