Illegal alien held without bail
In a story that's becoming depressingly commonplace, yet another illegal alien has been arrested for the nth time on drunk driving charges and repeated deportations. From Øbama's alkie unkie to the murderous Nicolas Gauman to the latest drunken illegal to pour himself a fifth and then into a seat behind the wheel, it's clear that Massachusetts is attracting far more than her share of lawbreaking illegal aliens.AYER -- Eduardo Alementa Torres used crutches to enter the near-empty Ayer District Courtroom yesterday afternoon. The Mexican national remains held without bail following a dangerousness hearing before Judge Peter Kilmartin.
Torres' case has sparked political wrangling over whether Massachusetts should submit to the federal Secure Communities program, which pools fingerprint information between the FBI and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agencies to help identify criminal aliens.
Yet suggest that we hand them over to the Feds to be deported when they commit serious crimes and you're called heartless, racist, intolerant. No less than Mumbles Menino himself, mayor of the largest city in Massachusetts, goes on record as saying that he doesn't think car theft is a "serious" crime. Yo, Mumbles, it's a felony - that'll get you banned from owning a gun the rest of your life. That's serious.
Instead, we pretend it's not happening; that illegal aliens aren't flocking to Massachusetts because of the lax law enforcement and free stuff handed out. We're ever so much more enlightened than those flyover states that voted for Bush - who, coincidentally, do *not* have illegal aliens driving drunk on every street at all hours of the night, but that's the price one pays for cosmopolitan living, we guess. Eventually, one of them is going to kill a politician's wife, kid, or other family member, and then maybe we'll see some real change.
Until then, I'll keep my 3-ton Dodge, thankyouverymuch...
