Incongruous...

Okay. I don't get this.

Oakland cops tear gas Occupy protesters

Oakland, California (CNN) -- Authorities used tear gas early Thursday on anti-Wall Street protesters who defied orders to disperse after earlier shutting down the Port of Oakland, California, police said.

A crowd of several hundred people threw rocks and shot fireworks at officers after being asked to leave the scene, prompting officers to fire tear gas, authorities said.
They smashed businesses, clashed with police, and interfered with the livelihood of hundreds at the port. Truck drivers were turned away at the port entrance, local businesses (including a Whole Foods - WTF??) were heavily damaged, and, basically, they disrupted the daily life of hundreds for their own means.

Compare and contrast:
"Our government is being bought by corporations," he said. "The middle class and lower class are being subjugated."

The port closure, he said, "sends a message to the corporate world that we're not going to sit by and take it anymore."
This is from a protestor.
Trucks that attempted to exit with cargo were forced to turn around, KCBS said. Drivers without cargo were allowed to pass.

"I just want to go home," one truck driver told the station after being trapped by the crowd. "Why are they on top of my truck?"
This is one of the people affected by the protest.
So they're protesting the effect of capitalism on government by forcing the working people to lose money? Truck drivers that don't drive don't get paid. Depending on the company they work for, they could lose their jobs. The actions of the OccupySomething crowd are having direct negative impacts on the very people they claim to want to help.

The most mystifying statement of all?
A new poll shows that support is growing for the Occupy Wall Street movement as Americans learn more about it.
Excuse me. On what f**king planet? We're well into the second month of this OccupySomething nonsense, and they have yet to come out with anything other than "Business Bad". They've managed to deal drugs, rape women in the camps, vandalize local businesses, and clash with police, but support is growing? I wonder how their "support" would be if the media handled the OccupySomething crowd the same way they reported on the Tea Party?

When they come out with anything resembling a coherent message, someone give a yell. Until then, they're
nothing more than spoiled brats, professional journalists, or simply crooks and vandals out to steal or break stuff. I'd say I'm surprised that they have any level of support, except I know better. In a world where more people know who "Snooki" is than their US Representative, it's not surprising that the slanted media coverage would yield this outcome.

What's frightening is what will happen if these nincompoops actually get what they want...

That is all.

Had an interesting conversation with my wife re: Occupy Whatever/Wherever. She expressed a curiosity about them (we do not so much share political views) and stated she felt remorse for not joining in. Her parents were(are) very active in populist politics beginning as students in the 60's, and she remembered hearing stories and lamenting that she would have no opportunity like that. There's a pretty safe bet that many like her are involved, protesting just to be a part of something. As my Grandad used to tell an idle child on his farm, "Well, do SOMETHIN, even if its wrong!" He, of course was not serious. These Occupational Hazards are becoming deadly serious indeed.

They actually remind me of the "Worker's Soviets" that arose in 1917 Imperial Russia. Lots of Ground Work laid before the Kaiser released Lenin and put him on that Sealed Train to St. Petersburg to bring down the Tzar. It took a few months, then there was the Russian Civil War, but then there was 70 years of Hell on Earth.

If the Anointed One thinks he can use these Commies to his Advantage, I think he may have released a Mad Dog that'll take him down if it gets the chance. And Crom Forbid that a REPUBLITARD wins the White House.

I HATE being "Born in Interesting Times!"

Fuck those guys. I work the docks in Texas. Our dockworkers and oilfield folks triple dog dared them to interfere with our ability to make a living. I have a college degree, made some bad choices, Wells Fargo DID take my house, and rather than bitch, I work hard to get back on top. I am third generation in this business, but I do not work in the office with my brother, father, uncles or make six figures like them. I do not even work for our family business, but as a non-union longshoreman. With a college degree and an East coast boarding school education. Once again, consequences of my bad decisions. So fuck these parasites. (No I am not a felon or a criminal, just a series of bad decisions in career, marriage and so forth)
