Speaking of Holsters...

In yesterday's post about holsters, I mentioned how neat it was to find that holsters I already had fit new guns. No sooner had I written this post, when I received an e-mail from Dennis about a new holster he's offering:

ZOMG! Pocket Goodness!

Yes, he finally listened to me (ahem *g*) and put his considerable talents to work making a quality leather pocket holster. Here's a shot with the gun (A Taurus TCP) inside:

Lookin' good!

Dennis has clearly lost his mind, because he tells me that he's going to be offering these quality leather pocket holsters for the following micro-autos:

KelTec P3AT
Ruger LCP
Taurus TCP 738 .380
S&W BodyGuard .380

Price: $45. Under $50 for a quality, handmade leather holster? Hell, the nylon offerings from DeSantis (which are very nice) are only $20 less, and those are mass-produced nylon, not hand-stitched leather! This will be added to the website after the first of the year, after Dennis clears out the Christmas backorder.

I'd order two or three quick before Dennis comes to his senses on this one... *g*

That is all.

Dang - if they only made pockets in women's clothing actually big enough for more than a car key (seriously, that seems to have been the trend over the years), that would be great for my Taurus.

If he has one for a LCP + Crimson Trace, I am in!

@Andrew

The LG-431 LaserGuard unit?

If thats the one you have, then yes, I can make one for the LCP with CTC LG-431.

Drop me an e-mail ( dragon@dragonleatherworks.com ) and I'll let you know how to order it prior to going live on my sales site.

Regards,

Dennis

I am assuming by looking at the picture that is for left side carry?

How stiff is the leather on it. I know Dennis doesn't like to soften his belt holsters. In a pocket holster would a little flexibility make it easier to conceal?

Very nice looking piece. Dennis you are definitely a master at your craft.

Dennis, you should consider doing one for the Seecamp. Those guys dont have many choices and are pretty fanatical about both their guns and holsters.

Right side carry. The scalloped cut allows for properly getting two fingers onto the grip, while pushing the holster off the gun with your thumb (at the point where the leather meets the rear sight) and your trigger finger at the same time pushing against the lowest part of the scallop.

When the holster releases the gun, your trigger finger naturally falls right along the slide, and your thumb falls right on the safety.

No, not soft...this is rigid. Soft will be too loose a fit to the gun. My chief concern is safety and making sure that if you inadvertently put keys or coins into the same pocket, that they will be kept out of the holster via a good, snug, form fitted rigid rig.

This TCP is my BUG. Goes everywhere I go. Had a PoPo friend a couple weeks ago chastising because he thought I didn't have a BUG on me (was carrying my 1911 OWB, and wasn't wearing overly loose jeans, either...) and when I pulled this out of my right front pocket, he just looked at it, looked at me, and held out his hand. Tried it in his own pocket, asked if I could do one for a BodyGuard.

Granted, here in Tennessee, printing isn't as much of an issue as it is in places like NY, MAss, CT, Florida, etc...but still, for a cop to not notice at a casual gathering made me feel pretty confident about it.

Dangit! I knew I was forgetting one of the mouseguns....

Seecamp will definitely be added to the list, as soon as I can get my hands on one of them. Prolly will buy one outright. My local FFL is giving me some decent pricing off list, and he's also carrying a few of my rigs in his store now.

Any revolver love?

@bluesun

Yes! I'll be making a pocket variant of this holster for the J-Frame, and for the small Charter Arms pocket wheelguns.

Will be releasing those around mid-March 2012.

Very nice! If I did pocket carry, I would buy one in a heartbeat!

@ Dennis: I'm sending you an email with an idea for a product I've been looking for but haven't been able to find. It's pretty simple, and is something you could probably market generally, too. I'm actually surprised no one else has done it yet.

Dennis, just have Jay send you his Seecamp, he doesn't like it anyway :P
I bet Cher would like one of these holsters for hers, especially if it had a little DragonBling on it. The one she uses know was made by Mickey Yurco, who's better known for his knives and pens.

That's not my Seecamp, that's DadG's.

I'd have sold it ages ago if it were mine...

Echoing Bluesun, my model 36 could use a nice leather pocket holster. It served it entire tenure as a carry piece in a DeSantis, it could use a nice leather coat as a retirement gift.

Speaking of pocket guns and holsters for them: Any chance you would be making holster for a FN 1910 in the future? About the only affordable one I see are old flap holsters. A good, modern leather pocket, IWB, and/or OWB holster would be neat.

Also, I know a bunch of people have trouble finding a good pocket holster for their Baby Browning. Any chance one of those could come down the pike?

Hello all,

Folks, please feel free to go to my site, click the Contact Dragon link, and send me lists of handguns you would like me to add to the offerings.

I can't guarantee that they all will appear, or that they're even doable, but now that I'm in Tennessee where the handgun laws are much more relaxed than in NY, I can go to gun shows (there's two or three a month within a 35 mile radius) and look for the pistols needed to make molds/models from.

Also, by submitting through the site, it gets funnelled to a requests folder in my e-mail, which I go through once a week and work the requests.

Warmest Regards,
