U.N. Assembly Honors Kim Jong Il With Moment of Silence
The United Nations General Assembly honored Kim Jong Il with a moment of silence, in the latest international tribute to the late dictator who operated one of the most repressive countries in the world. You are reading that correctly. The UN General Assembly - the same august body that nominated Syria and Iran for the Human Rights Council - took a moment of silence in "honor" of one of the most brutal dictators in recent memory. He starved his countrymen in a game of brinkmanship that lead nowhere, continuing a remorseless regime inherited from his father that continued the oppression of the North Korean people. And they mourn his passing like a lost brother.
Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, president of the U.N. General Assembly, granted the request for the moment of silence Thursday. As the United States and other western delegations boycotted, the rest of the delegates and officials in the chamber stood in silence for about 25 seconds, some bowing their heads.
These are the people that our pointy-headed "intellectuals" think we should look to for guidance on how to run our country...
That is all.
Thanks to the BLNN and aepilotjim for this lovely story...

It's just like the Mob, isn't it? They may hate each others' guts, they might try to shoot one another on sight, but when one of them dies the rest pay their respects because even though they were bitter rivals, they were still part of the elite club.
Yes, but didn't you see all the North Koreans lined up for a public display of crying? They must have really liked the guy!
I'm guessing that they were all envious at his success in controlling a population, while the rest of the world did not much besides contain him and complain, maybe giggle once in a while at his, uh, 'eccentricities'..
We had Predators and Hellfires...but did not use them anywhere near Pyongyang. We employed "shock & awe" just about everywhere else on the globe...but not on North Korea. We did our bit to precipitate the fall of the Berlin Wall and the CCCP...but not the DMZ.
Yep, the ol' Kim family is really something worth honor by that august body, the U.N.
@ ancient woodsman - It's an issue of terrain really. There's not another batshit crazy power mad country with a heavily mountainous area festooned with long range arty pointed directly at their opponent's capital city.
Time to paint more Helmets.
As asked elsewhere: "Did they have a moment of silence for the death of Ronald Reagan?"
The UN, You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
