Random Bits and Bytes...

Just some items that have stumbled across the news desk here @ MArooned lately...

From M.Sgt.B: Norse History for Bostonians

OMG. Drink beverage level kumquat in effect here. Please swallow any liquids before reading, especially if you are from the New England area...

From the BLNN (see below): Cleveland homicides up in 2011

Everything from the new "guns in bars" law to "gun buybacks" are brought up as causes and solutions, but the simple fact can be found here: "More and more of these kids are turning to guns to resolve disputes" - all the gun buybacks and gun control in the world isn't going to help stop the violence when there's no real incentive to stop breaking the law...

Good news for the day from Craig: He’s HOME.

Chuck the dog has landed. Repeat: Chuck the dog has landed. Okay, that brings a smile to my face, it does...

Both Mopar and the BLNN send in a story that reminds us that Rule Four is for everyone, including Only Ones: State trooper shot Norton woman he mistook for deer

I find it interesting that the anti-gun forces often hold up hunting as the only legitimate need for a firearm, often phrasing the question along the lines of "Why do you need [scary looking accessory X] for hunting?" You almost never hear about someone at an IDPA match mistakenly shooting a passerby because they mistook them for a target...

And lastly, that marvelously talented pantsless wonder Robb Allen has very kindly come up with a graphic for the BLNN:

Thanks, Robb. This will be very useful indeed; probably even moreso than the Rage-o-meter!

There's your newsbites for this Monday!

That is all.

Jay, Based on your appreciation of the Norse History for Bostonians, if you ever run across a copy of Fritz Wetherbee's How To Speak Like A N'Hampsha Native, you should check it out.
