Sittin' In An Airway Station...

...got a chicken for my destination...

Made it to the airport and through security, and have ~ 45 minutes to spare before hurtling through the sky in a big metal tube. Expected arrival in LV is 4:15 local time, at which point our air travel odyssey will be (half) over; meaning that only half the panic will be left... (your humble host is petrified of flying...) We took an extra day to do the tourist thing before SHOT starts, so tomorrow will be spent doing lots of gawking and taking of pictures...

Should have lots more to say later, so stay tuned!

That is all.

Wait, wait, wait.

You mean to tell me that you enjoy hurtling down the highway on two wheels and an engine, but are afraid of flying? Trust me, flying is mostly boredom.

Viva Las Vegas!

Oh, you have the Family with you.

Never Mind. ; )

Wait a minute. NOAA Weather radio just extended our Winter Storm Warning until 4:00 AM Sunday.

BRING BACK HEAT!

I'm guessing you don't have time for anything more then the basic touristy stuff, but there are some really cool things beyond that. The neon sign graveyard is close enough you should be able to squeeze at least that in. My fave thing to do out there though is to spend a day out in Red Rock Canyon. One of the most beautiful places in the country.

Something really techie to see: The Atomic Testing Museum, on E. Flamingo Rd, east of the Strip, and IS open on Sunday, from Noon on...

Just my $0.02

That, and Rachel, NV is just too damn far to drive, and not much worth seeing.

The double duce bus runs up and down the strip and it's like five bucks and you can ride it all day. It even goes to downtown Freemont area. Best way to get around once you have walked your fill. It stops at most of the magor casinos. Have fun man Vegas is great. Flying in is cool the airport is in the middle of town you will fly right over the strip lots like you are going to land on the strip. Have fun man and be safe

$20 for THREE days on the LV bus system is a far better deal than the $7 for the day ($5 is for 2 hours)

If you can get to the Trop tonight, there's a free (and quite good) show in the Ambhar lounge (drinks are pricey, show is "free") ... not 100% kid-friendly, but not too smutty (OK, maybe a little smutty)
Recycled Percussion in the same place is a great show, and not too expensive.

Penn and Teller at the Rio are a must-see for anyone with a libertarian streak. (the VIP Tix are worth the extra bucks if you can get them)

Lions at the MGM (free)
Flamingo habitat at the Flamingo (small and cheesy, but free)
Skip "Fall of Atlantis" (free show in a mall ... terrible animatronics)
Fountian at the Bellagio is spiffy once (free)

Mac King at Harrahs - mid-day show, family friendly, not too expensive

Hash House-A-Go-Go (imperial palace) ... great food, huge portions (seriously, split something)

Luxor Buffet was the best selection/quality/price balance that we encountered

Why bother with planes and TSA?
I-95 to I-85 to I-40 to Vegas.
Not enough leave?
Screaming kids in truck?
OK, that makes sense.

Before you head home, finish that SHOT-esque version of Simon & Garfunkle and put it up on your blog, as you will indeed be Homeward Bound. Might be neat.
