Yeah. Gun Control Works...

Watch this, and then tell me that any form of gun control will work...

That looks to be about $30 worth of hardware from any home improvement store. Length of pipe, some springs, and standard gate hardware, and this guy built a working 12 gauge shotgun. Might not be good for more than a couple of shots, and the reloading takes a while, but the Liberator was only a single shot, too... I don't know that I'd trust my life to it, but if it was all I had, it beats harsh language seven days of the week and twice on Sunday...

The genie is out of the bottle. Has been for well over 100 years now. The knowledge to make working firearms and ammunition is out there; has been out there; and will not go away despite the most fervent wishes of those who would see us at the whim of the government's monopoly of force. Banning all firearms will no more remove them from society than Prohibition removed alcohol or the present "War on drugs" removes cocaine and pot from our city streets.

Make guns illegal - and make no mistake, that's exactly what the Bradys and VPCs and such want - and only criminals and the State will have arms. Criminals by definition do not abide by such silly things as laws, and the State has never written a rule that it didn't exempt itself - and its agents - from being subject to. Even assuming we could repeal the Second Amendment and rid the US of all firearms, even if we could magically remove the knowledge of gunpowder entirely; the goblins will use knives, bats, and fists against the law-abiding.

Like a smart bahstahd says, gun control is what you do instead of something...

That is all.

I knew an ex-con (he found Jesus and was in my church) who said he could get a truckload of unregistered guns from a neighboring state in a week. As you said, we have never been successful controlling anything people want - why waste time with this?

That looks almost identical to the one depicted in the Army manual, improvised weapons, though it used rope or string rather than the clamps to hold barrel to stock.

Manual is from 1969, as it covered improvised weaponry used against us in a struggle we were engaged in at the time.

Also showed how to use matches and a bolt to reload a rifle cartridge, cut down a .50 BMG casing (or live round) to make a shogun shell...plus make a shotgun without shells, if you don't have any, all kids of stuff.

Imagine at some point, needing a background check or waiting period to do simple home repair because you could bash somebody's skull in with a 2x4, or use it for the stock on an improvised blaster.

Charcoal, Sulfer, Saltpeter, Flame, Pipe, Stone. Can you say "Hand Cannon" boys and girls? Genie's been out of the Bottle since around 1200 A.D.

Even if you can fire it only once, select your target well and you have an instant upgrade to an AR or SMG. Reckon I'll just have to become one of those criminals.

Oh, and I've heard a lot of those army manuals were written to cause hazard to anyone trying to do any of that stuff.

Genie out of the bottle since 1200 A.D.? If you spoke Chinese, then the Genie has been out longer than that.

Most of the designs look sound, however I'd not attempt them myself short of dire emergency.

Recently viewed a site by a British fellow (deceased now) who built a homemade sub machine gun, and was thrown in prison for it. Can't recall the site, but the designs he had looked sound as well. His was all smoothbore, made from pipes and seamless hydraulic tubing, being that in England you couldn't just go buy a barrel like you can here.

Not that I'm an engineer. I'm assuming plumbing pipe is not as strong as the hardened steel used in a standard blaster, but...if you can use it once effectively, you can get an upgrade, and pass the blaster down the line to your bud. After a few shots I'd be reluctant to use such an item, again, short of dire necessity.
