Friday Gun Pr0n #256

Today's gun pic is something small, because next week's pic is going to be of something large...

Junior!

Manufacturer by Astra for Colt, the Junior made from 1958 until 1973, but only imported for 10 years. The Gun Control Act of 1968 halted the importation of small handguns in the wake of Robert Kennedy's death by assassination, and . It's chambered in the very manly .25 ACP caliber, holds 8 rounds plus one in the chamber, and is a single-action design with an exposed hammer.

I've brought this Colt to the range once, I think; .25 ACP is surprisingly expensive given what it is and there's no way I'm going to carry it. The Colt Junior was manufactured in a different time in America's history, hitting the market around the same time as the S&W J-frame. It has long been replaced by far more modern firearms like the Kel-Tec P3AT or the Seecamp .32 ACP, either of which are chambered in more powerful rounds.

It's still a neat little gun and a piece of Colt history, though.

That is all.

I can't remember the last time I shot my Colt 1908 Vest Pocket. I have a few boxes of .25, but why bother when I have mouse guns in .22? (And .45!)

But yeah mine is a concealed carry gun specifically marketed to be carried in a man's vest pocket or a lady's purse that was made in Connecticut in 1917.

Just that info puts a LOT of things into perspective.

I used to have one of those. They're really nice to shoot, and extremely accurate for their size, sight radius, and rudimentary sights.

It was my deep concealment carry piece for a while. I eventually traded it for a P-3AT, but I wish I could have afforded to upgrade and keep it.

Jay,

Mag capacity of this model was only 6 rounds, according to my memory (and page 13 of the instruction manual). Manual can be seen here (hope the link works; hat tip to Steve of Steve's Pages):

Interestingly enough, we're *both* wrong - I just checked my Colt, and the magazine holds *7* rounds... Thanks for the update!
