Friday Gun Pr0n #259

Today's gun pr0n comes to us from Bobby in LA:

FN 5.7

I'll let Bobby tell you about her:

I couldn’t wait for BAG so, I went out Last Friday and bought my Five seven. I’ve included a few crappy pictures. She’s a dream to shoot. Easy to maintain and really packs a punch. I also bought a 30 round to go with the 2 -20 round mags that come with it. Originally, I wanted a pair of KelTec PMR-30’s. Since that’s not going to happen anytime soon (last fun show here there was 1 for sale and the vendor was asking 700.00 for a 413.00 MSRP pistol) I figured I would try to get as close to the PMR-30 as possible. While I still want a pair of the Kel Tec’s, this recent purchase will keep me out of the local gun stores for a while.
30 round magazines? For a pistol? Yep:

Triple illegal in MA

Both the Five seven and the PMR are quite intriguing based on the concept - a small, light pistol with very large capacity - but I'd never consider one until I moved out of MA. Limiting the magazine to ten rounds just defeats pretty much everything about the Five seven. I've had the pleasure of shooting libertyman's Five seven at the Northeast bloggershoot, and it's very well mannered and quite accurate. When I'm able to stoke 20 rounds into the magazine I'd consider adding one to the armory.

Until then, I'll stick with 10 rounds of G-d's Own Pistol caliber, thankyouverramuch...

That is all.

just a detail correction:
neither the FiveSeveN or the PMR30 is a "small gun" ... both are what I'd call "Duty Size" or "Full Size" pistols.

I must say, I am not a huge fan. It is a gun I bought because of the novelty of the round. And it does hold 21 rounds, even though the bullets are something like 35 grains or the SS192 is 27 grains as I recall. Its accuracy is wildly variable with different rounds. That is, SS197 or SS192 or any of the factory stuff (SS195?).

d,

Good catch. I omitted the word "caliber" after small. It's something with light recoil but a little more power than a .22LR - and because it's centerfire, it's likely more reliable ignition than rimfire.

libertyman,

It certainly doesn't have the oomph of the Mossberg 590 or the Ruger Alaskan, that's for sure... :)
