Friday Gun Pr0n #260

Today's gun pr0n represents a new T&E firearm. This is something new for me - not only do I not own any firearms from this company, I've never even shot one of their firearms.

Undercover

This is a Charter Arms Undercover 38, a five shot, 2" barrel DA/SA revolver similar in size to the Smith & Wesson J-frame or Ruger LCR. It's an stainless frame and finish with rubber grips that offer a full three-finger purchase, weighs in at exactly one pound, and has an MSRP of $331. The size, weight, and overall handling are similar to the S&W J-frame, with a long double action pull and a lighter single action pull, and it fits every J-frame holster I have.

Full report to follow once I get a chance to carry it and shoot it.

That is all.

I think you are going to be surprised at how nice it is to shoot.

You might find it likes lighter bullets. My daughter has an older, blued, Undercover, which shoots best
with 125 grain slugs.

Looks like a stainless version of an old Charter Arms 38 that I inherited and was owned by my grandad probably about 30 years ago.

Looking forward to hearing your long-term views on it. I was impressed by them at NRA '11, including the fact that the president of the company was taking time to answer my questions - and never once mentioned that he was the president.

My general feel at that time was that they would be quite functional, but lacked the fit-and-finish I expect to see on S&W's and Rugers.

If your review goes well I may seriously consider one of their "Pit Bull" .40 revolvers.

You're going to like it. I inherited my Dad's, which has the Crimson Trace laser grips installed. I find that it carries easily and conceals well. Any accessory meant for a J-frame seems to fit as far as I can tell.

Only downside is that the muzzle is square cut and therefor sharp. I can live with that.
