Warning:
Wisconsin shooting recalls Trayvon Martin death
The decision by authorities not to charge a homeowner who shot dead an unarmed black man in a small Wisconsin town three weeks ago has resulted in comparisons to the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida and drawn scrutiny to the state's new "castle doctrine" law, a derivative of the "stand your ground" laws.Right. Because a strange man standing inside your house is exactly like a confrontation in public. Take away the part where the person killed had broken into the man's home and sure, there are parallels. Oh, and the part where he was legally intoxicated (although, to be fair, we haven't seen any information on Martin - that may very well turn out to be the same...).
Authorities ruled that Adam Kind, a homeowner from Slinger, Wisc. was justified in shooting Bo Morrison, 20, a black man. This is possibly the first such case under the expanded doctrine which was enacted late last year, prosecutors said.
The mother of the deceased claims that her son was "executed" - of course, that's better than admitting your failure in raising your child properly. His sister gives the inevitable "he was a good boy who fell in with the wrong crowd" and that he wouldn't hurt anyone. The problem is, when a drunk person is inside your home at 1 o'clock in the morning, you don't get to interview them. You don't have a magic Intent-o-meter that can distinguish between a confused drunk and a PCP-fueled psychopath.
It's unfortunate that Mr. Morrison lost his life so young; tragic in fact. It's just as unfortunate that Mr. Kind was in a place to have to make that decision - it's going to haunt him the rest of his life. With a wife and young child in the house behind him, and an unknown man under the influence of alcohol in his home? I can't blame nor fault him for chosing to defend all that he holds dear. The race issue is BS - he would have pulled the trigger had Morrison been white, yellow, red, or glowing orange.
They're trying to use the Martin shooting as a blanket condemnation of Stand Your Ground laws - and the danger is they may be successful...
That is all.

I don't think they will get far in the long run. The more facts that come out on the FLA shooting make it more and more look like a good defensive shoot. This kid was not as clean as they are trying to make him and it is starting to show through. Now we have at least one witness who say he was on top of Zimmerman pounding on him. . . I think this is another Duke case that they will try to forget quickly when all is said and done.
Actually, I sent this in as a possible DGC. I think you already did the Original Story, but had concerns. Now that the Lawyers came back and Signed off on it, it should be Official.
However, the Professional Racists are claiming that "Stand Your Ground" laws are just a Legal form of Lynching. And there will be some sort of "Meeting" by the Usual Suspects in the Democratic Party to Demonize the RKBA. So, don't be surprised if some Liberal Judge somewhere Rules that "Stand Your Ground" is Unconstitutional, because Goblins from certain Minority Groups are getting Killed.
Right. Because a strange man standing inside your house is exactly like a confrontation in public.
Not sure what Treyvon Martyr had to do with a public confrontation - it all went down on private property, kinda like one's front yard or backyard, granted the streets had something like a hundred owners, but Treyvon, his did, and his dad's girlfreind apparently had no interest - IOW, Treyvon was a prowler.
Good points, and I'd have dropped him too... If he's inside, he's within Teuller range...
For the record anyone "Glowing Orange" in my house is getting dropped regardless of intent!
They may be there to probe me and that never seems to go well.
