It's Not Just Massachusetts...

Sadly, MA is far from the only place that lets criminals off lightly...

Lesser sentence for NH man in deadly home invasion

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man sentenced to prison for hiding evidence and concocting an alibi for machete-wielding home invaders who killed a woman and maimed her then 11-year-old daughter has been granted parole on one conviction but will not go free anytime soon.

The state parole board ruled Thursday that 22-year-old Autumn Savoy merited parole after serving the minimum 2½ years for hindering apprehension. He will remain behind bars and start serving another 2½-6-year-sentence May 14 on a second conviction for hindering prosecution.
That's five years, total, for one of the five people involved in the horrific home invasion that took a woman's life and seriously injured an 11 year old girl. Five years. Because he wasn't convicted of actually committing the murder or assault, he skates on serious jail time. He helped the monsters responsible plan the break-ins, claiming that they told him they were only going to rob the place - even though he admits researching chloroform "in case someone was home".

Five years. Two and a half years on one charge, two and a half on another. He helped plan a home invasion that resulted in a murder, then helped the monsters responsible dispose of evidence. And he'll serve the same amount of time in jail as a repeat drunk driver - or someone in MA caught with a new 11-round magazine. It just doesn't seem like enough, does it - it doesn't seem severe enough to get the next accomplice to rat his friends out before the act.

This is why you carry in your home - when evil comes looking for you, it doesn't always give you time to get your gun from another room...

That is all.

Each of the participants should be hanged. No further comment necessary.

What if you just have a gun in every room? Could you not carry then?

Times like this, TX's law of parties looks good. He would have gotten the death penalty here; he would have been considered as guilty of murder as the person who physically committed the crime.
