Detroit woman fatally shoots armed intruder

Detroit — A 38-year-old woman who was confronted Thursday by an armed burglar inside her northwest Detroit home grabbed her own gun and killed the intruder, police said.

The confrontation happened about 10 a.m. in the 17500 block of Appoline, Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens said.

And yet the antis would rather she leave herself to the mercy of the armed home invader rather than defending herself with the best tool possible. They would rather she huddle in a closet, on the phone with 911, hoping that the police arrive before harm comes to her. They would rather she bet her life on the stranger currently in her house illegally than to take charge of her own defense.

I'm sorry, but that's just insane.

2 shot to death at west-side apartment complex in Spartanburg

Two men died from gunshot wounds following a shooting early Saturday at an apartment complex in Spartanburg.

The incident happened at the 300 building of the Lee's Crossing Apartments on Powell Mill Road. One man died on the scene, and the other died later at the hospital.

The shooter and witnesses agree that the two men were breaking into the shooter's apartment; the article is unclear whether he confronted them or just started shooting. In the case of the former, it's a clear DGC; in the case of the latter, it's a little less clear. I'm going to leave it as an addition unless and until evidence is provided that he was not acting in his own defense.

Lastly, a number of folks have sent in the report out of WA where a retired police officer shot and killed someone trying to break into his home. I've decided to leave this off the count, as even retired police officers are often treated differently than non-LEOs in self-defense shootings.

Last thing I want to be accused of is running up the count, right?
