Circus? What Circus?

Really? This is the best CNN has?

Ex-aide testifies he helped cover up Edwards affair
Greensboro, North Carolina (CNN) -- A former aide to then-presidential candidate John Edwards testified Tuesday he helped cover up Edwards' affair with a campaign videographer.

The scheme, according to Andrew Young, included him claiming he was the father of Rielle Hunter's child to protect Edwards.
With everything else going on right now, this is what CNN is featuring? Gas prices are over $4 a gallon in many locations - before the summer rush; unemployment is "officially" somewhere between 8-9% and unofficially higher; crime is rampant in our inner cities; etc.Flashback four years ago, and you'd have seen a far different headlining story I'm guessing - although to be fair, it'd have to be eight years ago when Bush was running for re-election. And John Edwards was John "Lurch" Kerry's running mate...

It's interesting to see that the media is turning on their former fair-haired boy now. In their interest to distract from the current woes, they're perfectly willing to through John Edwards right under the bus. Now, in all fairness, if there's a guy who deserves to wear some Goodyear tread more than Edwards I have yet to see it, but still. This is a side note at best, certainly not headlining stuff. It's interesting to see that Edwards was milking his campaign donors to pay off his mistress, yes; but it's hardly front page news.

It's a circus designed to draw attention away from the real issues; I would also be willing to bet that it's a media attempt to innoculate against charges of bias. I mean, when they reveal that ZOMG MITT ROMNEY PUT A DOG IN A CARRIER ON TOP OF HIS CAR - yet ignore the admission about Obama actually eating dog - they've got to come out with something to counter claims of bias. So they drag John Edwards's cheating ass out of obscurity again, plaster him all over the front page, and wash their hands of the bias issue.

There is a certain amount of schadenfreude, though, in seeing the great John Edwards revealed for the slimey excuse for a human being that he really is...

That is all.

Anything that reminds Democrats that they a) nominated this sleazeball in 2004 to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency and b) a good percentage of them in 2008 thought he was qualified to be President is a good thing.

Democrats, you OWN this man. Lock, stock and barrel.

Your being redundant on the slimey thing, he's a lawyer.

It's rather pathetic that the Edwards trial is the best (as in least damaging) news for the Democrats these days.

Gee, what if it was Sarah Palin who had a "Love Child" and tried to hush it up? Any bets we'd be inundated 24/7?

I can only imagine how the slimeball feels now. "Now I get used to distract from someone else's bad headlines??? Okay, fine, he's the President, but still... why ME???"

Wallow in it, Mr. Edwards. And I do hope someone goes to the trouble to assemble all his many lies and cover-ups -- and reminds us of just how many people were willing to buy it.

May the American people never take a politician at face value again.
