Volkswagen's Audi arm has bought Italian motorcycle firm Ducati for an undisclosed sum.The story brings up an interesting point - it's hard to see what VW/Audi hopes to gain from buying Ducati. There's not a lot of crossover in the motorcycle/automobile world - only Honda and BMW have robust divisions of both - and it's unlikely that the tempermental superbikes will lend anything other than cachet to the current offerings.
The 20-member supervisory board of Europe's largest carmaker agreed to add a 12th brand to its portfolio. The purchase will be completed when approval from the necessary regulators is received.
It did give me an opportunity to post an odd and cryptic title, though!
That is all.

......or maybe Piech was tired of haveing to wait for parts.
Hey, it takes a Ducatti to catch a Bugatti on the Autobahn.
Interesting take... and it's kinda like the Japanese companies...

What about Suzuki? In 2010, Suzuki produced over 2.5 million cars and over 2.9 million motorcycles. In the same year, BMW produced just under 1.5 million cars and just over 112,000 motorcycles.
