I'll let Adam tell you about this one:
There's nothing quite like a 4" barrel .357 Magnum revolver, even more so if it's a Smith & Wesson with an action job. I've got a Model 19 with no trigger job, and a Model 13 with either some work done to it or a zillion rounds through it, and either is a joy to shoot. A 4" revolver is almost like a .22 rifle - it's almost a commodity rather than a firearm to be counted separately. It can be carried concealed. It's great as a home defense firearm. Heck, you can even hunt with it. It's the Swiss Army knife of handguns!I recently finished my master's degree (electrical and computer engineering) and thought I deserved something special. My first revolver, it was finished this week: model 686, upgraded main spring, upgraded firing pin, trigger job, 4" match barrel, and sighted in by the armorer that did the work. The single action trigger pull is under 3 pounds. I giggled like a school girl the first time I tried it. This one won't ever leave the collection.
In any case, she's a beaut, Adam - and don't let her out of the collection.
That is all.

That's a beautiful gun. I have a 4" Model 681 (same gun with a fixed rear sight) that I dearly love. It was a gift from my father-in-law who purchased it new back in the early 80s and passed it along to me 4-5years ago.
I really love the full underlug on that series. S&W really knocked it out of the park with that design.
I have a Ruger Security 6 with the 4" barrel. I wish I'd kept the one I had prior to recovering sense so I could have two instead.
I have two Smiths with 4 inch barrels. One a Model 65 the other a Model 57. The .41 Mag has had a trigger job on it. It is a real sweetheart.
I've got a couple older Model 28's that I am exceedingly fond of.
