Give 'Em Hell, Granny!

‘I carry a gun all the time’ says woman who thwarted Macon holdup attempt
Looking at Lulu Campbell’s bullet-riddled silver Toyota Tundra, common sense says the 57-year-old grandmother should be dead.

It’s impossible to tell how many bullets were fired at 2 a.m. Saturday morning on English Avenue, but what started as an armed robbery attempt turned into a full-blown firefight.

Mindset made the difference. She was determined that these thugs were not going to kill her - or at the very least, she was taking one of them with her. That's the difference between walking away from a gunfight victorious - which, since she was unharmed and kept her money and one of the thugs went to the hospital, she was - and being a victim. Hell, she answered the door to a reporter with a .357 Magnum in her hand. That's being prepared!

And yet, just to flagellate the deceased equine, there are those who would prefer that she face two armed assailants with nothing more than harsh language and a whistle. They would deny her the ability to carry the best tools for defense possible, all on the flimsy and unbelievable notion that prohibiting her from carrying a gun will keep a street thug from getting one. They would rather than 57 year old Filipino grandmother currently caring for her grandson throw herself on the mercy of two thugs at 1:30 in the morning.

To hell with that. Give them just what they're asking for - hot lead. She recognized the two men as regulars in her stores. More than likely, they'd followed her before and had rehearsed this scene several times. It's a safe bet they weren't planning on leaving her alive to pick them out of a line-up afterwards, either. She saved her life that night with the help of a .38 Special revolver and a tenacity to live, a sharp refusal to roll over and die and be another statistic.

Bet they'd have lit a candle for her if she'd let the young men shoot her to death, though...

That is all.

Also, this:

"Campbell said she owns several guns of all calibers, and given that she owns 13 convenience stores in Macon, Fort Valley and Columbus, she always keeps one on her hip and one in her car. Each store also has at least one gun."

To the anti-Rights cultists, this means she's paranoid (after all, why would someone need more than one gun, right?). It would appear instead that she was exactly as prepared as she needed to be.

"she owns several guns of all calibers"?? Good think she's in Georgia -- up North that's what they call an arsenal!

I wonder if her balls clink together when she walks?

This is my City! I work in Macon and my husband is a Macon Police Detective. I just thought it was neat to see our local news on the gun blogs!
