Through the magic of Al Gore's internets and Skype, I was able to see my family even though I was some 1300 miles away. That's pretty darn neat. I was at a convention with people from all over the United States, most of which I had only known through the internet previous to this meeting. Those that I had already met, I still managed to meet only through the internet (with a few exceptions like, interestingly enough, Cam Edwards).
The surprise of the convention for me? Finding out that one of the pre-eminent experts on the venerable 1911 (you can't print "1911" without prefacing it with the word "venerable"; it's in the style sheet) is the same man that gave me my MA LTC class some 20 years ago. Yes, one of the experts on John Moses Browning's most famous handgun is a MA resident. I wish I'd known that when he was actively running the range that I visited several times a month...
Right now, though, the gun stuff - great as it is - is rapidly being pushed out of my mind by the prospect of TSA gropenings and such. The flights out were uneventful, though, with little turbulence and on-time arrivals; I hope that the flights home will be similar. As I write this I have a little over an hour before the shuttle service is scheduled to pick me up; in about 8 hours I'll be home. Funny as it sounds, even though I'm in gun-friendly MO, I'll be happy to be home to Massachusetts where I can carry again...
It was good to get away, but it's even better to be home.
That is all.

Safe travel, boss.
Have a safe trip Jay :)
Safe travels and happy gropings. :-P
FYI, www.ma-rooned.com brings me to your site but ma-rooned.com generates an error.
It was great to see you all again!
Have a safe trip home!
Travel Safe, and the little blonde in the right lane was cute, and hand 'soft' hands... :-)
Let me get this straight - you are a US citizen, you have been vetted in some way by your home state, and you can't carry in Missouri?
I ain't going...
... says the guy in Oz, where you may not carry a firearm to protect yourself EVER.
Sendarius,
It had more to do with me not wanting to travel with a firearm than being able to carry. My MA permit is honored in MO, but where the convention center is a prohibited place, and I spent the bulk of my time there...
I figured as much and was mainly just tweaking you - I am just pissed that the local laws here are so insane.
I have more and more powerful guns now than before the Great Confiscation, still no one has been shot by me OR my guns, and somehow I am still so dangerous that I am not allowed to carry at all, ever.
