Off to the Convention!

By the time this posts I'll be heading to the 141st Annual Meeting of the National Rifle Association. For the first time since I started going to the NRA convention, I'm hoping to actually make it for the opening - in 2010 I didn't arrive in Charlotte until close to 10AM; last year in Pittsburgh the traffic and parking were so bad we didn't arrive until close to noon.

This year, however,  the hotel is within walking distance of the convention center, so the plan is to be there bright and early when they open. I've got a lot of ground to cover, and a lot of new shiny that I want to see, so I'm quite eager to get going. There's industry folks I need to touch base with; some bloggers I'm hoping to catch up with; and acres of shiny new firearms and accessories to ogle, fondle, and photograph. 

The plan for the rest of the day, blog-wise, is to roam the convention center floor and blog things as I come across them. Expect rampant photoblogging as the day goes on - especially if I run into any celebrities (you know, like Lars...). I know I want to stop by the Smith & Wesson booth ASAP to get some pictures of the new M&P Shield; I want to swing by the Glock booth to see them present several donations to the NRA; and I want to hit the Woolrich Elite booth to register for their Bianchi Cup giveaway. 

After that, I'm wide open for suggestions. There's a whole wide gunnie world on display at the NRA convention, and I want to catch as much of it as possible. Anything that folks would like to hear more about, be it a new offering, a twist on something already on the market, or otherwise, just let me know and I'll see what I can do about checking it out. There's a lot to see and do, and rumor has it that we won't see protestors until tomorrow, so there won't be anyone to pester or annoy until then.
