Pit Bull Pulls Unconscious Owner From Path Of Oncoming Train
BOSTON (CBS) – A pit bull hit by a freight train last week is being credited with saving its owner’s life. Christine Spain of Shirley was walking home from a friend’s house on May 3 when she collapsed on the tracks, according to the MSPCA.
Spain’s son, Boston Police Officer David Lanteigne says the train engineer told emergency responders that her 8-year-old pit bull named Lilly managed to pull her off the tracks to safety as the train approached.Seems like the dog is woman's best friend as well. The dog suffered substantial injuries but will recover, albeit with one leg fewer. The woman is fine. Despite all the hand-wringing about ZOMG TEH EVIL PITBULLZ, this one put her own life on the line to save her owner. Good dog.
Just thought I'd put out a *good* story given all the lousy ones recently...
That is all.

For generations, the pit bull was known as the "nanny dog" because it was such a suitable companion for children. They are great dogs and this story is only one of many examples.
No, no, no...all pit bulls are killers, just like guns are only used in domestic violence..
Used to work with a woman who had a pit for her kids. They used her for a TV pillow on the floor.
AS she was female, they called her the pit-cow.
Never a problem...

BOOYAH! I grew up with a pit in the '50s - didn't know Duke had a breed until 10 or 12 years ago, yes, I was clueless.
Great pup, protective and gentle as hell.
My min-pin was FAR more dangerous to intruders.
Of course, there were a few years the local cops called me up to my father's car wash, so I could restrain Gretchen (white German Shepherd bitch) when the alarm rang. She did alright with 3 felony convictions and no cops mauled.
I owe it all to Duke, who was (among many) MY first dog. A loyal pit.
All the bad pittbull stories are bad owner stories.
While I haven't had one myself, I had a long-term bouseguest that rescued a "problem dog", a less than 2 year old rottweiler/doggo canario mix that had had 7 previous owners. It took us about a week to fix all the problems. It hadn't had enough love, food, or excercise. It's probably the most attention craving and loving of the 4 dogs she has now.
We've had our pitbull/ rottweiler mix for 4 1/2 years now. All 130 lbs of him turns lap dog on a daily basis.
I could see him doing that.
Of course, the only thing he's ever truly harmed is a baby bird he "loved" to death (no marks, poor thing died from fright while he was trying to baby it).
As Mikael said: All bad pitbull stories are bad owner stories.
I've never met a dog I didn't like, but I've met a lot of dog owners who should be put down, if for nothing more than preventing more of the breed.
for some weird reason, i get along FAR better with so-called "aggressive" breeds than i do with the typical "family-friendly" dogs. in fact, the puppy we brought home back in March is on the top 10 list for aggressive/destructive breeds...and he's nothing more than a lap shark.
