Calif. Man Sues BMW For Persistent Erection
Um... Now, as a Harley owner, I think I'm compelled by law to make some sort of crack about BMW riders or something (just kidding Ross!). I've actually experienced the numbness they reference in the story - spent a lot of time in the saddle, and the vibration and positioning can lead to a numbing effect in the nether region. It's rather disconcerting.SAN FRANCISCO (WWJ) - BMW North America has probably had to deal with plenty of unusual lawsuits, but one filed last week may be a first — a California man says the seat on his motorcycle has given him an erection he just can’t shake.Henry Wolf of California is suing BMW America and aftermarket seatmaker Corbin-Pacific claiming his issue began after a four-hour ride on his 1993 BMW motorcycle, with a ridge like seat. Wolf is seeking compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, emotional distress and what he calls “general damage.”
But a 20 month long erection? Hell, I called that "being a teenager"...
That is all.

I think there's a BMW shop up the road. Be back after lunch.
.."now is unable to engage in sexual activity, which is causing him substantial emotional and mental anguish.”
Color me confused.
I am confused - "...an erection he just can’t shake"? Nowhere in the article do I see any claim of injury to his hips or hands.
Wow... That's just... I have no words.
He's just mad because all the girls are still flocking to the Triumph riders. (To point and laugh, sure, but still.) (Don't ask me how I know.)
Anybody taking bets on whether or not his attorney tries to get this certified as a class action? That's where the real money is. (Not for his client - he'd just get an ice pack and a coupon for $10 off genuine BMW accessories.)
Yeah, I'd wondered about that: 'an erection that won't go away' AND 'unable to engage'?
WTF?
AD'd be better at this, but I called BS on this a long while back. Priapism lasting more than 2 hours is painful. More than 4, and it's dangerous (hence the viagra ad). After 8, blinding, debilitating agony, and long before the first month is out, it turns black and falls right off.
I also recall in the 'plumbing 101' class from my last shipboard medical care refresher, that if the flag won't furl after misadventures ashore, that dumping a full bottle of gaviscom down their throat will do the job.
Must be riding the wrong kinda bike. I caan ride ll daywithouthaving that problem or going numb.
Yep, something a 'tad' fishy here...
I had the "opportunity" to treat priapism in med school. Not fun. Look at it this way: the soldier stands at attention because it's fille with venous blood. Like all venous blood, if it doesn't move quick enough it can clot. Imagine that entire organ filled with clotted blood. No more new new blood. Dying tissue. Dying nerves. Bad news. Treating it is not pleasant either.
I don't have any information regarding priapism. However, I do know that it is NOT BMW's FAULT that this guy was too stupid to get off his bike for a few minutes and stretch. Only in CA would this go anywhere. Weren't there promises a few years back that it was going to fall into the ocean or something? Can we work on that please?
Seems to me that it's really his own damn fault. He replaced the nice safe Teutonic Gnome Dusted Bavarian seat with something dangerously untested from the aftermarket.
Corbin Pacific will, of course, blame his improper installation since he doubtlessly didn't go to the single authorized installer in south Miami. You know, the place only open on Mondays, 8-10am with the full voice-mail, no email and a backlog of five years?
I'm suing Corbin. I've obviously got a defective saddle on my Beemer; I didn't get one of those four-hour woodies after every ride. :-(
And yes, I've saddle up for a full day at various times.
If this happened anywhere except for California, the suit would probably be tossed out of court.
But since it is California, it will probably lead to a massive lawsuit and BMW having to put Cialis-like disclaimers in with their motorcycle advertising.
If anything, he should go after the manufacturer of the aftermarket seat. But something tells me there's more money in going after BMW. Disgusting what some people (and their lawyers) will do for a buck.
I'm buying BMW and Corbin stock!
