Well, Libertyman points out that he's back driving around on a full legal license:
So, for his entire "suspension" he had a "hardship" license - meaning that he was always driving legally. Even though he's here in the US illegally. Madness? This is Massachusetts! Or, if you prefer, SSN? We don't need no stinkin' SSN! Even though it has been proven that he does not meet the criteria for a license, he has a valid one anyways. Even though he's been convicted of drunk driving, he was never actually prohibited from driving.President Obama’s illegal-alien uncle is once again a fully legal Massachusetts driver, reclaiming his license this afternoon after serving a 45-day suspension he agreed to as part of a plea deal in a drunken-driving rap.Onyango Obama, 67, walked into the Registry of Motor Vehicles’ Worcester branch about 2:30 this afternoon and walked out moments later with a new license, according to RMV spokeswoman Sara Lavoie. Obama had been driving for about a month and a half on a hardship license, which allowed him to get behind the wheel only during certain hours.
Even though he broke the law regarding the conduct he is expected to maintain while enjoying the privilege of driving a motor vehicle, his ability to perform same was never actually curtailed.
Remember that, won't you, the next time some anti-gun mushhead says we need to treat guns like cars. Bring this story up. Ask them if someone who broke the gun laws of Massachusetts (or any other state for that matter) should be allowed a second chance. Ask them why we trust folks who have already shown that they cannot abide by the very simple rules on operating a motor vehicle to get right back behind the wheel, but if you break any one of the gun laws, your ability to own - much less use - a firearm is gone forever.
One is a constitutionally enumerated right, the other is a privilege, yet the two are certainly not treated the same.
That is all.
