It was a pretty interesting drive home from Manchester - usually about 35 minutes, tonight about 1 1/2 hours. It's not nearly so bad near the big city as it is closer to the coast. One thinks of navigating the moguls on Cannon, not Route 101. I joked to my bride that I was kind of surprised to not meet Roald Amundsen on my porch, gloating that he got there first.
Yes, I lived through the big one of '78 and many others before and since and don't really understand the hype over this one. It's winter. It's snowing. Rather nice, I'd say.
This "driving ban" that Mopar mentioned has really gotten under my skin. Not that I planned to drive anywhere, but I find it mind-bolggling (and unsettling) that a private citizen can be banned from getting in his/her car and driving it. What's next, comrade? (Yes, yes, I know they don't want people to get hurt and they don't want stuck cars blocking the way of ambulances or firetrucks, but still. . . .)
We now have a ban on all travel here too. I don't like being told I CANT go anywhere. Granted, we now have 2-3ft of snow and drifts even higher. I doubt even the Dodge EarthF*cker could go far now, but I've owned trucks that would have laughed at 3ft of snow (or mud). Hell, 3ft wouldn't even be up to the front bumper or over the top of the tires.

Open Invitation for New Shooters
Just want to extend an open invitation to all potential new shooters in the Northern Virginia area. If you have never shot a firearm, or would like to get back into the shooting sports, or are an accomplished shooter who'd like to try something in my arsenal, give me a shout.
New shooters get range time, targets, gun use and ammo on me. I've even got extra eye and ear protection - all you have to do is show up.

Hopefully he made it home before your governor had him thrown in jail for a year for the crime of driving in 3 inches of snow.

Hunker down Jay...
Jay, just tie a keg of brandy under your chin, board your favorite snowmobile, and ride, ride like the wind!
Woof!
