Nirvana, KISS, Linda Ronstadt among Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees
(CNN) -- Grunge and glam rock are among the genres that got the nod from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as it announced its inductees for 2014.It's funny that Nirvana makes the cut. Not that they don't deserve it - they certainly do, having changed the music scene in the early 1990s from hair bands to grunge. It's that TheBoy has recently become a huge Nirvana fan, so I've been hearing a lot of them lately. Kind of reliving my college days, as it were...
The final choices, announced Tuesday, include angst-ridden alternative rockers Nirvana and big-haired, makeup-slathered pop metal band KISS.
It's interesting to see who made the list of inductees and who didn't. Linda Ronstadt is considered rock'n'roll? Really? Cat Stevens? Even more interesting is the list of groups that haven't made it into the Hall yet: Chicago, J. Geils Band, The Replacements, Deep Purple... Some of these groups have careers that simply dwarf bands that are in the Hall of Fame...
What scares me is what we'll be seeing in 25 years for inclusion in the Hall of Fame...
That is all.

What bugs me is not really who gets in, but the fact that they STILL insist on having the Induction Concert in NYC.
McFly! Hey McFly! The Hall of Fame is in CLEVELAND, you $@%$$^%%%^#^ MORONS!
There was a radio show from one of the college stations that I listened to in the late 80's, early 90's. It was the midnight to sunup shift, so the DJ's would play all kinds of crazy, off the wall crap.
I owned Bleach before Nevermind came out. (I found it hard) it was hard to find unless you had a store that specialized in "Obscure shit"
hmmmm...let a drug addict into the hall of fame? What a role model
Always been a sore point about where the ceremony was held - at least here. Spotlight in NY and price paid here in Cleveburg.
Nothing's changed... We get the brown end of the corncob and the Browns still suck. Welcome to the Best Location in the Nation.
"It's a real conflict for me when I go to a concert and find out somebody in the audience is a Republican or fundamental Christian. It can cloud my enjoyment. I'd rather not know." — Linda Ronstadt

I wonder if Senator Gaga will accept her nomination in person.
Ronstadt gets in but Deep Purple doesn't?? Really??
Play the first few chords of "Smoke on the water", and pretty much ANYONE will recognize it.
Then play Ronstadt's most popular song and tell me how many people can pick it out.
Wait, what? Just because you don't know what Linda Ronstadt's most popular song is doesn't mean no one else does. Deep Purple would have been in any R&RHOF worthy of the appellation years ago, but to try to minimize Ronstadt's contribution to the genre is just ridiculous.
Rock is dead. The hall of fame is it's mausoleum.
Nothing to fear in the rock hall, Jay. There's still plenty of Rock out there- Stonesour, Halestorm, In this Moment, Avenged Sevenfold, Fivefinger Deathpunch are all in heavy rotation on the rock stations.
And considering that Donna Summer and "Little Anthony and the Imperials" (who?) are in there, I'm sure Gaga will make it there too.
