Deputy wrecks 33 times in 17 years, but union fights for his job
As a law officer in Minnesota, former Todd County Deputy Sheriff Mark Grinstead didn't miss much.33 wrecks in 17 years? That's not even two crashes a year! It is an outrage that this man was fired! The department should be forced to take him back and give him more property to destroy! Now, I don't know about your area, but where I'm from, that kind of driving record -"four crashes in two months and three vehicles in the repair shop" - would get your license revoked for a while.
After all, why try to avoid something when it's a lot easier to just hit it?
Grinstead, it must be said, hit many things -- deer, cows, trees, buildings and snow banks, for example. In 17 years, he had 33 wrecks.
Grinstead racked up about $100,000 in losses while patrolling the rural county roads.
But not if you're an Only One™! No, in that case, you get to keep driving - and wrecking patrol cars - until the police department gets tired of paying for destroyed property and rebuilding cruisers and rightfully cans your butt. Why on earth hadn't he been disciplined before now? Why hadn't corrective action been taken? Was the plan to - like with drunk drivers - wait until he killed someone with his recklessness?
And, naturally, the union is fighting to give Crashy McCrasherson his job back - because what the world really needs is a cop who can't keep a car on the road...
That is all.

Sigh... teh wons... What else can you say...
And then there's De Blasio's multiple moving violation day in New York. It's OK as long as the Little People don't do it.
He sounds like the recruiter I dealt with getting into the Army. He'd wrecked two Army cars and was forced to use his POV because they wouldn't let him take the last van they had. I was shocked, though I soon learned that most Soldiers suck at driving.
The future Mr. Danica Patrick.
What?

I just like "Crashy McCrasherson".
Let's see. I had a minor fender bender in the grocery store parking lot during rush hour in a thunderstorm about 2 years ago. I got rear ended at a stop light about a week before that, then I have to go all the way back to 1989 for the next accident.
33 in 17 years?
Why does he even still have a drivers license?
In reading the article, he was the guy who was trained to train new officers how to drive.
Those who can, do.
Those who can't, teach.

I will say that at least the department did try and fire him, it's the union that is trying to get his job back.
