Elderly driver backs over 7, killing 3, after church in Florida
An elderly Florida woman is unlikely to face criminal charges after she backed out of a parking space into a crowd of pedestrians, killing three senior citizens, authorities said Monday.Well, there's one similarity right there. A member of a protected group willfully misused a tool resulting in the deaths of others, and the authorities have no plans to punish the misdeed. Look, I understand it was an accident, but it was entirely preventable. The same crowd that wants "common sense gun control" in the form of licensing schemes will fight tooth-and-nail against any attempt to implement skills checks on older drivers.
Doreen Landstra, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., lost control of her Chevrolet Tahoe sport-utility vehicle after church late Sunday morning at Sugar Creek Country Club, the state Highway Patrol said.
So, this woman misuses her high capacity assault death 30 magazine clip SUV and three women perish. A mere blip on the radar. Some whack-a-mole walks into a mall with a shotgun and kills two people, it's a national news story. No, there's no agenda or anything, is there? Three women brutally slain because the state can't keep grossly incompetent drivers off the road barely raises an eyebrow, yet someone criminally misusing a tool is evidence that the multiple thousands of gun laws on the books aren't working and we need more.
After all, if mandatory re-testing of seniors saves one life...
That is all.

My mother...Fortunately she never hurt anyone but herself but trying to get the car keys away from her was a major battle. We really should have just been able to show the DMV the list of body repairs on her car to have her license yanked.
It's surprising they didn't lead with SUV kills three. In the medias mind SUVs and guns are the only inanimate objects that exert mind control.

71 year old retired Tampa PD SWAT Captain Curtis Reeves allegedly only killed one with his gun.

Two days ago, we celebrated the life of a 27 year veteran of the Sheriff's Department because an 83 year old hit his motorcycle head on while passing on a double yellow line. Just another blip.

is that one of those roads the feds mandated be double-striped it's entire length, to make it "safer"?
IIRC, the accident rates actually went up, due to this bit of meddling.
