Michael Sam made history Saturday afternoon, as the St. Louis Rams made him the 249th overall choice in the 2014 NFL draft. We hear an awful lot of talk about Hollywood actors/actresses or singers/performers who come out and admit that they are homosexual. That's not showing any courage, folks. They work in an industry that celebrates alternative lifestyles of all flavors - when was the last time a gay man was blacklisted for being out in Hollywood? Oh, they might not get the lead in a romantic comedy? Gee, neither will an ugly bald guy. Does that make me courageous?
The Missouri defensive end became the first openly gay player to be drafted in league history and seeks to be the first openly gay athlete ever to play in the NFL.
But a professional football player? Yeah, that takes some guts. Sam is going to face far more issues as a gay man in the NFL than if he were an actor, no question. It really boils down to "can he do the job for which he will be paid?" If he can, then who he loves - male or female - doesn't make a difference at all. I'm hoping that he proves himself by being the best defensive end in the league.
Life's too short to hate someone for the color of their skin or who they like to sleep with - hate people because they're @$$holes...
That is all.

....... And if he can 't do the job upto the expectations of the coaches and her gets cut.
I hope they are ready for the accusations of homophobia that will certainly be floated by the media
S/b " he gets cut"
You won't hear any smart comments about the irony of the team name being the "Rams".
Nope, you won't hear it from me.
Gay men don't get leading roles in Hollywood's romantic comedies?
Ssshhh! Don't tell Cary Grant or Rock Hudson.
