Matt W: Looks like it makes a pretty good insulator.
Jay, if you're taking requests (and if the cam does video), I think a sequence of multiple shots from a rifle to show where the heating starts and spreads to would be cool.
But them I'm a nerd, so I'd be the one to think that.
That's already on the agenda, but I hadn't considered the video aspect, thanks.
Plan is to grab a .22, a 9 mm, and a .223 Rem. and go to the range. Fire one round, then 10, then 50 through all of them, with pictures taken at 0, 1, 10, and 50 rounds to see how the pictures change.
Video's a great idea, too.
DJ9,
What an AWESOME idea!!!

Open Invitation for New Shooters
Just want to extend an open invitation to all potential new shooters in the Northern Virginia area. If you have never shot a firearm, or would like to get back into the shooting sports, or are an accomplished shooter who'd like to try something in my arsenal, give me a shout.
New shooters get range time, targets, gun use and ammo on me. I've even got extra eye and ear protection - all you have to do is show up.

Is that now part of the prize pool ?

Please tell me you're not gonna mix IR photography and kilts.
Pretty-please?
