Friday Gun Pr0n #56

Agh, Friday. Time for more gun pr0n... Here's one from the waaaaay back:

This is a Ruger Single-Six, a single action, six shot revolver chambered in the ubiquitous .22LR caliber, but also with a spare cylinder for .22 Magnum. It's got adjustable sights, a 7½" barrel, and wood grips. It's a fun little plinker, to be certain, and with the .22 Magnum chambering makes a fine varmint sidearm.

That is all.

I've got a couple of those; nice guns. My first one was a Christmas gift back in 1969, so it's the old style without the transfer bar.

Definately one of the classics and built to last more than a few generations
The single six was my first revolver. It helped train me to not only shoot a pistol, but also how to handle one safely; one should feel comfortably confident in handling a handgun especially around others and the Single Six is the perfect choice for that.I love the recoil of the magnum option; it's such a satifying thump for such a small caliber.
It also makes a perfect gun to get a new shooter started on, especially if they are a bit timid about the gun thing to begin with.

My first handgun was a Ruger Single Six with the extra magnum cylinder. I kept it for about 10 years and traded it straight across for a Ruger target auto. As I remember, mine had fixed sights, so I'm wondering if the picture isn't a Super Single Six.
