Too Cute Not To Share...

Last weekend an old friend stopped by. Adam* and I met in junior high, and have been friends since we were 12 years old. In 2000 his job took him west to CA (and then on to OK), and we've kept in touch mainly by phone and e-mail ever since.

He was back in the area for his 20th high school reunion and stopped in for dinner last weekend (weekend before last, actually). While he was here, he took a bunch of pictures to bring home to his family so they could see how we're all doing (and yes, they were all amazed at my weight loss. I eat that shit up...).

My daughter decided that she wanted to be the center of attention, so she got into the dress-ups and went all out:

Isn't that just the cutest thing you've ever seen? Daddy's Little Princess, indeed... (the backpack was new that day, as part of her back-to-school shopping. She loves it so much she couldn't put it down, so she wore it over the dress-ups...) And ya just gotta love the Spongebob imitation Crocs...

That is all...

*Names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent...

Jay, the Mrs. wants to know who made the costume (she thinks it's way cute, but doesn't recognize it as store design).

Ah, so your daughter plays 'dress up' too. I swear, our daughter changes her clothes every 45 minutes, just because she likes seeing every possible combination.

It only gets worse, wait until she's 17 and playing dress up before going out on a date.
Get used to saying "No, no way are you going out in that"

Daddy better have his shotgun out and be cleaning it on the kitchen table when the young man shows up.

ted,

I believe that's part of the Disney princess collection, the "Belle" dress. She got a big honkin' trunk 'o' Disney dress-ups from my folks on her birthday.

rw,

She's actually not all that bad. She's more of a tomboy right now - she looooves her brother's hand-me-downs... I'm hoping this holds until she's in her 30s...

bob,

I'm of two minds on this aspect. On the one hand, I'm raising her to think, act, and be independent - my common refrain is that she isn't going to break hearts, she's going to break legs. I'd rather she be cleaning her Kalishnakitty AK when her date comes to pick her up.

On the other hand, there's this...

(I will never get tired of that poster...) :)

My "little" sister is 17. Yesterday she had her friends over playing dress up in the most ridiculous / goofy outfit's they could find.
