Silly Jay. It should be obvious to you that this is the magic of the Obamessiah at work, even before the inauguration. Think about what miracles He will work when He's actually behind his desk in the Oval Office.
At least with Obama it'll only be him behind the desk...
;)
T-bolt,
I was just thinking that, actually - that the days of $1.XX gas were behind us forever.
I am glad to be proven wrong.
And may your prediction re: ammo be true. However, with the incoming administration, it won't be the actual cost of ammo that's the killer, it'll be the 150% "eeeevil tax"...
Kilgor,
Thanks for harshing my mellow! *g*
$1.62 is almost the high gas reached during the first Persian Gulf War... Wow...
I'm torn about the dropping gas prices. On the one hand, my wallet, and even more, the wallets of those in worse economic shape than I am, is very happy.
On the other hand, I wish the prices stayed high so that action would actually be taken in terms of coming up with alternative energy sources for transportation and other things, as well as drastically increasing cafe standards for vehicles. I can just see the "find new sources of energy" movement that was so strong when gas was $4.29/gal evaporating now that gas is <1/2 the price. This price dip is only temporary, but those leading (both in government and industry) like to stick their heads in the sand and ignore the inevitable. [/rant]
Well, there's another selfish reason to wish the gas were back high again... My commute was soo much better when people were actually sharing rides.. but as soon as the gas price dropped, it started taking 1h -1h30min to go the 22mi to work instead of 30-45min.

Open Invitation for New Shooters
Just want to extend an open invitation to all potential new shooters in the Northern Virginia area. If you have never shot a firearm, or would like to get back into the shooting sports, or are an accomplished shooter who'd like to try something in my arsenal, give me a shout.
New shooters get range time, targets, gun use and ammo on me. I've even got extra eye and ear protection - all you have to do is show up.

$1.97 here. If I hunted I could do better. And just last spring we said, "We'll NEVER see $2 gas again."
Lat week, my gun dealer said, "We'll NEVER see cheap ammo again."
Thank you gun dealer! I expect to see .45ACP for $14 next summer.
$1.62 here. :)

Just you wait, Barack will soon really fix THAT mistake of Chimpy McHalliburtonBush! The price will soar!
These politicians are wicked crafty!
Hah!
$1.589 here in SC!
Tweren't so long ago that only some of the stations had gas and the ones that did had it for a minimum of $3.999 so I'm not complaining.
I've heard gasoline futures (wholesale, of course) for December are at just barely over a buck a gallon.

I'm with you on that one, Elizabeth.
The one bright spot about $4/gallon gas was that it was starting to get people's attention.
People were starting to conserve, to clamor for more efficient automobiles.
I'm afraid if gas stays below $2/gallon we'll see another Hummer come out...
