Liveblogging the Obamcalypse...

Alternate title: Drunk-Blogging!

Let's see... This is going to be pretty much free-form blogging as the night goes on. Updates will become more disjointed and amusing as the night goes on - and the beers go down...

Let's see. Reuters has called PA for Obama. Big shock there, NOT.

Elizabeth Dole has lost her Senate seat.

McCain has been called the winner of WV. At least it won't be a complete rout...

Beer #1 cracked.

Commenter sci-fi brings the news that Sununu is toast. Loverly. Thus furthers the Massafication of NH...

Beer #2 cracked. I should have invested in a case...

According to Caleb via gun nuts, Obama's had over 170 electoral votes called on CNN.

McCain has 49...

Beer #3 coming up quick...

Beer #3 cracked.

OH called for Obama. Folks, this game is OVAH...

Beer #4 cracked. Now it's time to dull the pain...

I think I'm leaving work early tomorrow to buy an AR...

Beer #5 is cracked. I do believe I may call in sick to work tomorrow... *g*

Beer #6 is half-empty. Everything is half-empty right now; I am incapable of looking at anything as half-full...

Okay. Last beer is empty. So are our hopes for keeping the presidency out of the hands of the socialists...

Tomorrow is a new day, one that will bring a renewed sense of urgency to gun-buying plans...

I've just been told that VA has been called... for Obama. This is turning into a complete and utter rout, folks.

Good night, America. You had a good run.

That is all.

Liddy Dole (NC) - gone. Seat used to be held by Jesse Helms. How far we've dropped...

John Sununu (NH) - gone.

Mark Warner (VA) - Dem pickup of an open seat (former Republican). Name association helped him. I hope.

PUMAs came home in droves.

Coal workers cutting the throat of their own industry.

No nukes, no guns, no military.

This country will be unrecognizable in 8 years...

Fox called Ohio for Obama.

There are not enough toss-up electoral votes for McCain to bridge the gap.

That's the ballgame, folks.

Forget the shotgun, get your AR- they are selling like hotcakes.

Ohio (my home state) just projected for Obama. With 12% of the precincts reporting.

Hey Jay G -

I'm pretty much a lurker - don't really comment - but I'm making an exception tonight.

I'm glad you're live-blogging, because I don't want to see an ounce of election coverage tonight. Instead, I'm watching something much more exciting - college football - Miami of Ohio vs. Buffalo University! (I could totally care less about the teams, but its actually a fun game to watch so far)

In any event, my beer of choice tonight is La Fin du Monde. And, as much as I love the MacAllan 12 year scotch, I'm going to have to recommend you top off your night with a Clynelish 14.

Honestly, I still can't figure out why people are actually voting for higher taxes, higher energy costs, more regulation, and nothing but the mother of all Nanny States. It boggles my mind.

Or, maybe the 9% beer is clouding my thoughts.

jmr76,

People are voting for the Madison Avenue package CALLED Barack Obama, not the actual politician...

Oh look! What's this bottle of Cutty Sark doing here?

What else will change in the next 4-8 years?

Just spitballing here:

Card-Check -- mandatory open union votes, so union thugs can harass people into joining. Every WalMart will become a union shop, with backing by President Obama.

No nukes. No new military R&D. Minimal military purchases - probably not even enough to replenish what we have lost in war.

Higher taxes -- fewer of us chumps "pulling the wagon", and more riding in the wagon.

Confiscation (Nationalization) of your 401K, either through legislative fiat, or a "leveraged buyout" (wherein they ruin a market, then offer you the chance to join *their plan* for a small fee).

Fairness Doctrine -- may very well generate a rebellion - I'm not kidding.

China takes Taiwan, Taliban takes Afghanistan, Taliban takes Pakistan, Iran takes Iraq. Muslim caliphates sprout like barnacles all over Europe.

To paraphrase Sean Connery in Indy III: "...the forces of darkness will march all over the face of the earth."

Sleep tight. The fight for 2012 begins tomorrow.

Ugh.... Time to stock up on ammo, buy reloading equipment and finish the AR.

I need, in order:

An AR-15.

Another AK-47 clone.

An AR-15 receiver.

Magazines for the above.

AMMO.

Jay,
I think I'll go to Minyan tomorrow and recite Mourner's Kaddish.

The next day the work begins . . . goal #1 has got to be retaking the house & senate in 2010, then focus on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave for 2012.

My own personal corollary to Murphy's Law: Things are never so bad that they can't get worse.

Epijunky said...

Yeah.

I'm going to bed.

Sabra said...

No alcohol for me; I have to get up at a quarter past 5 to take Smoochie to school, then go myself. Tempting, though.

What happened to the Republican machine that was gonna steal the election?

Sabra said...

Sigh. MSN just showed Obama hit 284.

Anonymous said...

It can always get worse -- there are still Republicans in Congress, and even some Blue Dog Democrats. Wait until the House is *FULL* of Pelosi clones. THEN we'll be reaching the bottom.

Jay G said...

Sabra,

I've got to be up @ 5 to hit the gym, then back by 6:30 to get the G-lings ready for school.

And I've still managed to pound 6 beers... ;)

And remember the origins of Murphy's Law:

In the beginning, there was nothing, which exploded.

Right now, in Somerville, there are fireworks and people screaming in the streets!

You'd think the Pats won the superbowl or the Sox won the Series.

Nope.

Its election night.

And that's what bugs me the most -- the folks around here in Porter Square think its some kind of sports match - of which the outcome doesn't matter.

This is REAL - and people are happy that their team "won".

This is not some sort of sporting match. This is an election. And folks are treating it like a Sox vs. Yankees game. Me versus You. Good versus Bad.

Ridiculous.

Sorry, I just had to rant.

Trashcan VonOpenMeup said...

BTW - ESPN2 is showing the Pats V Raiders playoff snowbowl.

That is awesome.

Sabra said...

Yeah, Jay, but I don't drink beer. All I've got in the house is some cheap Merlot & "margarita" wine coolers. Knew I shoulda picked something up at Wal-Mart.

The Spurs lost too. Woe am I.

Just up from the basement. I ran out of smokeless powder after near 1000 rds of 357Sig. What did I miss?

Oh $#!^, looks like it's time to do some more shopping.... 30 more 223 AR mags, 15 more 9mm AR mags, 10 more glock mags, and aluminum billet to machine some AR receivers.

President Obama. The phrase is offensive to my lips.

All I can say is God help The United States of America because Barack Obama certainly will not.

Anonymous said...

Then don't say it, Brad. Ever. I won't. He is not my president and never will be.

May he have many failures, no successes, and leave office in four years as a completely broken man.
