Battin' 500...

There's a particularly difficult intersection on my daily commute. There's two lanes coming up to a traffic light where two main routes intersect. The left lane turns left; the right lane goes straight or turns right. The right lane typically has 4-6X the traffic of the left.

(See where this is going?)

Well, the past two days I've been the first person at the light in the right lane, and the person next to me has ignored the line of traffic, numerous signs, and all attempts at common courtesy and proceeded straight through the intersection rather than turning left as they should.

In neither case did the driver use a turn signal to indicate their dumbassery; go figure.

Yesterday it was a Toyota Tundra. When the light turned green, I saw him start to go straight and floored it - smoked 'im. Today it was an Audi A8. If the rear-end of the Ram hadn't broken loose, I might have had a chance. He smoked me. (Re: If... My grandfather had a saying whenever we whined about "If X had only happened". He'd look us straight in the eye and say, "If? If the dog hadn't stopped to shit he'd have caught the rabbit." Grampy was like that...).

Yesterday I was the dog, today I was the hydrant...

That is all.

The only time I've ever had positive feelings for a MA Statie was when I was in a long "Construction ahead: Merge Right" jam on the Interstate, and a BMW comes flying by in the right lane, obviously trying to do the ever-popular last-second squeeze-n-merge maneuver.

There was a Statie right at the merge. He held out his hand, waved the BMW dude to a stop, and made him stand and wait for us properly merged folks to pass him. He got lots of thumbs-ups (the Statie, that is.)

Jay, that's what that round knob to the right of the steering wheel is for. I have a similar intersection on my commute. I find that flicking the knob into 4 hi helps me connect a little more of hemi power to the P275/60R20s without smoking them.

LOL- Saw two blonde bimbos in their bimmers hit each other this morning, both of them must have thought they owned the road, so they hit side to side... funny as hell watching them yell at each other :-) I just drove on by...

In the same situation at work, I drive my Rig straight ahead and pretend said little eurocart isn't there.

If he feels the need to get acquainted with the duals or my trailer, guess that's his problem.

Oh man.. nothing makes me more paranoid about massholes than driving the horse trailer rig... Big old F450 diesel flatbed truck with a big 3horse goose-neck trailer hooked up behind. I swear EVERYONE tries to jump right in front of you worse in that thing than in a regular car. They're Crazah!

That's what I loved about Boston. The traffic. I learned:
1. If 4 cars can fit side by side, it's a 4 lane road regardless of the actual road markings.
2. The light isn't actually red until the very last car in the line of cars gets all the way through.
3. If you look, you have just yielded the right-of-way.
4. Red and green lights hung above the road are just leftover Christmas decorations.
5. Light speed is the amount of time it takes for the jerk behind you to hit the horn once the light has changed.
I was only there for 2 weeks, otherwise I'm sure I would have learned much more.
