Business Owner Fires on 4 Robbers, Killing 2, Police Say
Updated, 6:55 p.m. A 72-year-old Harlem business owner used a shotgun to blast four men who tried to rob his restaurant-supply business Thursday afternoon, killing two and sending two others to the hospital with gunshot wounds, the New York City police said.

The police said that the four would-be robbers entered the business and announced that they were robbing it. One of them took out a Glock 9-mm pistol and started to pistol-whip a 33-year-old employee inside the store. The owner then took out a shotgun and opened fire, striking the four men.
This story has it all, doesn't it? It happened in NYFC. Two-fer. Elderly business owner defending an employee against multiple gun-wielding goblins. It's the feel-good story of the day! And yet Mayor Bloomberg would prefer that a 72-year old man watch as his business is robbed, his employees are murdered, and his head is bashed in by feral thugs rather than use a gun to defend himself.
Screw you, Bloomberg.

One other bit of info I found about this story . . . Our Hero needed only three rounds to fend off four attackers. Think about that, let it sink in for a moment. FOUR attakers hit and repelled with THREE rounds. Good shooting. DAMNED good shooting.
Too Old --> I have to admit that I called Jay before 5:30 yesterday afternoon with the story. Helped make his afternoon commute a bit happier. Regarding your why did he have to kill them supposition, community reaction has been largely that of congratulations & support of Mr. Augusto, with at least one person saying in no uncertain terms that it was "too bad" he didn't kill 'em all.

Fixed it for you. That tidbit makes it even better. No question at all of whether he should have tried to just hold them at gunpoint before firing.
Brad, I might have missed it, but I didn't see the part about only 3 shots. If he didn't have the plug in for hunting (and since it had a pistol grip I'm guessing it wasn't a hunting gun) it could have had 4-7 round capacity or more.
