9-12 Rally Update #3

More pictures from the rally from my man-on-the-street sci-fi...

And some quick observations from mopar, my fellow NE Bloggershoot attendee:

DAMN! Just DAMN!I have never seen anything like this in my life! They were saying the crowd was larger then Nobama's inaugeration! ABC news (and we know which way they lean) was estimating 1.5 million people. Obama, Pelosi, and Reid: CAN....YOU....HEAR....ME....NOW?

Heh.

Guys, thanks for the reports. The media is already in full-on spin mode with this story - see this NYT article headlined "Thousands Rally in Capital to Protest Big Government" (thousands? that's it?) or in the case of papers like the Boston Globe, is all-out ignoring it (as of press time - for me - of 11:30 last night, the Globe had not a single story on the front page about the 9-12 rally). Yes, hundreds of thousands of ordinary Americans, taking time out of their busy lives to travel to the nation's capitol to protest unfair taxation is either pooh-poohed or outright ignored.

If the right wasn't so friggin' stupid and had a leader we could rally behind on this, we could make 1994 look like a small shift come 2010...

That is all.

Here's a helpful crowd estimator, courtesy of USAToday and the chosen one's inauguration: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-01-19-crowd_N.htm

By all accounts, even the media's, we fliied the Capitol lawn and Pennsyvania Ave all the way back to the Washington Monument. Maybe USAToday can use that to correct their own article about yesterday which said "tens of thousands" of people.

Well, I have to agree with you about a lack of leadership. Maybe it's because we live in a state that has been all but abandoned by the Republicans, but I don't see any great strokes of leadership nationally either.

C-Span has archived video of the 3hrs they covered this online right now at: http://tinyurl.com/lvho2o
I heard they are also rebroadcasting it Monday night. If anyone knows offhand how to get the online vid (or even better the higher quality tv broadcast) I would love to have a copy of this on DVD. We were pretty close to the front, and I suspect at least my signs made it into some coverage.

Twenty bucks says that CNN's going to paint them as rabid, radical conservatives again.

...or have they done that already?

They have. I dunno if it hurt or helped that during CNN's live broadcast, every time the reporter was on the air the crowd kept chanting "CNN go home" and "tell the truth!".
