Don't Mess with Texas, Redux...

Police: Homeowner kills suspected burglar
The fatal shooting of a suspected burglar by a north Houston man on Thursday will be referred to a Harris County grand jury, police said.

The deceased, unidentified man was shot about 1 p.m. at a home in the 13500 block of Forest Pines Village near Forest Fir, Houston police said. He was later pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

Breaking into a home in the middle of the day. What do you suppose the chances would have been had there been someone less-inclined to self-defense in that house? Of course, since this is Texas - where even the nuns pack heat - there's a damned good likelihood you'll run into someone with a gun if you insist on kicking in their front door.

And an even better likelihood you'll leave the house covered by a sheet...

Dead Goblin Count: 26

That is all.

Jay,

Something that many people don't realize is that even the "kids" in Texas are authorized to use firearms in self defense.

(b) A person commits an offense if a child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm and the person with criminal negligence:...
c) It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the child's access to the firearm:
...
(2) consisted of lawful defense by the child of people or property;

God Bless Texas :)

Suicide by homeowner?

I've done some ballsy things in my life, but breaking into a house in TX? Not for me.
