FRANKFORT — A part-time U.S. Census worker found dead near a secluded Clay County cemetery killed himself but tried to make the death look like a murder, authorities have concluded.
Bill Sparkman, 51, of London, apparently was trying to preserve payments under life insurance policies he had taken out, one as recently as May, which paid benefits if he died as a result of murder or accident, but not suicide or natural causes, police said.
Remember this story? Some on the left were convinced that this was eeeevil right wingers - either Tea Party associates or militias or both - that lynched a poor census worker just trying to do his job. Certainly this was well within the capabilities of those knuckle-dragging bitter clingers, right? Because they protest against certain aspects of governmental excess, that means they're vicious psychotic killers, right?
Don't worry - I'll get the carbons for your written apologies...
That is all.

The scene is just a couple of miles from where my inlaws lived. Knowing the area I didn't really buy the anti-fed theory even with all of the activity of the FBI the past several years over the political corruption. I would have bet money that Sparkman wandered into a drug operation and they killed him and tried to throw suspicion away from them by moving him far away and setting up the scene like this. It would have made more sense to just kill him and dump the body someplace where it wouldn't have been found for years. But then, smarts isn't something to expect from those kind of people. Information available to the general public at the time didn't point toward suicide but the police have built a compelling case although I expect many people around here will not accept it. I don't expect Michelle Malkin to get an apology from Sullivan. He's too busy trying to work out Palin and her son to worry about how obviously the Kentucky State Police and FBI are covering up this crime. I hope no one is holding his breath wating for an apology.
