SayUncle is thinking of getting a .22LR conversion kit for his Glock. Interestingly enough, so have I, and have looked at the same company, Advantage Arms. The unit looks slick, just field-strip your existing pistol, removing the slide, and put the .22LR slide in place. Replace the standard magazine with the .22LR magazine and you're in business. Since Advantage Arms is in CA, they sell 10 round magazines with the kits so I won't run afoul of the AWB {spit} here in MA.
Conversion kits can be finicky about which .22LR ammunition will function properly, and Advantage Arms has thoughtfully provided a handy guide to what will and won't work. A quick glance shows that Remington Golden Bullet bulk packs are on the good list (good) but Federal bulk is on the bad list. Golden Bullet is usually available and usually priced comparably to other bulk packs, so that's really good to see.
The conversion kit makes a lot of sense on many levels. First and foremost, it's a lot cheaper to shoot 10 rounds of .22LR than 10 rounds of .45 ACP - about 10X cheaper. The same $20 that buys you less than a full box of .45 ACP will buy a 500 round bulk pack that will last you several range sessions. In my case, there's an added benefit of being able to use my gun club's indoor, 24/7 range - we're limited to lead bullets only because of the backstop, and shooting lead bullets through a Glock leads to Very Bad Things...
Hmmm. I wonder if Advantage Arms would like me to review this product for them???
That is all.

I've been thinking of getting a .22 conversion as well (for a SIG of course)
The problem is two-fold. For one the conversion is expensive. I can nearly buy another .22 Bersa for the price of the kit.
The 2nd problem is figuring out which Sig I'd want to put it on.
Seems I got a Glock that is finicky about ammo - even before a conversion kit. My Sig eats everything, as does WS's XD.
However, can't get a conversion kit for the Sig, which is one of the reasons I'm dabbling with the Glock.
my g19's LOVE rem goldies and hate red federal. Hot CCI rimfire runs the best and is the most accurate but 2000 rnds in a weekend is nothing for my advantage arms kit and it has paid for itself many times over over the years. If you need to practice malfunction drills run federal and get some practice. Somebody send this guy a demo so you don't have to take my word for it.
