Wither, Al Gore?

Snow expected to bring more frigid temperatures to Deep South
Atlanta, Georgia (CNN) -- A snowstorm backed by bone-chilling cold began to push into the Deep South on Thursday, re-enforcing record-low temperatures well into Florida.

Snowfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches were forecast for the upper Plains to the Northeast, and as far south as Kentucky and Tennessee. The National Weather Service was also keeping an eye on a dangerous mix of ice and snow expected across the Southeast, running from Louisiana into Georgia.
Orlando, FL was exactly 5ºF warmer than parts of Cape Cod according to the news this morning. 33ºF. They haven't seen weather this cold since the last time Al Gore gave a talk on the dangers of global warming! It's so cold Democrats were walking around with their hands in their own pockets! Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week. Try the veal...

Now, all kidding aside, we understand that the plural of anecdote is not data, yadda yadda yadda, but isn't it just a kick in the teeth that right on the heels of cap & trade we're seeing record low temps across the country? For a few years now, the Northeast has experienced severe winters - look at the ice storms weathered just last year - but that was written off as localized. With record-setting lows across large swatches of the US, threatening people with having to pay for carbon offsets is going to be a hard sell indeed...

And worst of all, if it stays cold much longer, Robb's gonna have to put pants on!

That is all.

My water pipes have been frozen all week. It sucks. Typically this only happens rarely and doesn't last long. Looks like it's going to be mid next week before I get a thaw.

So much from the 'warm' weather in Alabama.

I am forcibly reminded of, I think it was 2003, Pat Robinson said God would send hurricanes to Florida or somewhere because of their sinful nature, and then Hampton Roads got whapped head-on by a Cat. 5 hurricane (Isabel).

God has a nasty sense of humor sometimes.

My kids were out making snow angels. As my daughter said the other day, "and there are still people who say there is global warming?"

Heh.

The other day on one of the news channels--I forget which, CNN or MSNBC? The host and the weather guy were bantering and the host made a little Al Gore joke. The weatherman admitted that this is a running joke among meteorologists and weathermen (and weatherwomen?) They apparently find it goofy how it happens to come up a blizzard every time there's a big global-warming speech or conference, too!

Presumably you meant to say whither rather than wither, although the possibility of Al Gore becoming dry and sapless would be something I'd pay good money to watch.

Homonyms, the writer's bane.
